Thats the kicker isn't it though. Maybe Ratts should have left more of this to the guys who were paid for the role.

Pffft SB! Just pfft!

Have a look at who we picked with first picks in 2009, 2010 & 2011! Then have a look at the players picked after them. !
Lucas, Watson, Bootsma are average plodders at best. Not saying you can nail all drafts but FFS anyone of the 23 players below would be better than those 3!
The 2009 draft was a disaster, and thats before including the Mclean trade. Imagine we started doing the same comparisons for players like Rowe, Davies, Mitchell, McCarthy etc

These were Rattens last 3 drafts at Carlton. What a @#$%&! legacy.

2009 Lucas Talia
Lewis Jetta
Fyfe
Bastinac
Carlisle
Gunston
Sam Reid
Mitch Duncan
Alan Christensen

2010 Watson Isaac Smith
Jed Lamb
Cameron Guthrie
Jamie Cripps
Jack Darling
Jeremy Howe
George Horlin -Smith
Alex Fasolo
Luke Parker

2011 Bootsma Elliott Yeo
Jackson Merrett
Brad Hill
Mitch Grigg
Jordan Murdoch

apologies for the format

Might even try and give Strangelove a fair go from here..

Tired of all the moaning. As if that is going to get us anywhere. The way I see it is the moaning started when we got our first wooden spoon and hasn't stopped.
In that time we have been crap. Moaning fans = CFC failure. Players, admin and coaches are spooked whenever a decision has to be made.
Tough club to be at. No support.

No, club. Poor process and no accountability of board and management has CFC entrenched in mediocrity.

giving them a fair go only means continuing what we have been doing...

Hear this called for a lot on here
But not many answers on what is expected from the review
Most football clubs basically have the same structure so all you will be doing is replacing person x with person y with no assurance that person y will be any better than x
We could halve the board chuck out half the staff and coaches and still not be better off

We have these "football academies" in Victoria called Calder Cannons, Geelong Falcons, Oakleigh Chargers that seem to be well functioning, well resourced professional outfits that exist to develop young footballers who are often identified and nurtured from age 14.

But what do we do - go and draft kids from WA pretty much every year who typically don't put the runs on the board.

The only exception of course is Watson, which doesn't help my argument, but I don't think we are giving ourselves the best chance.

Not sure anyone is impressed by most of our recruiting unfortunately.
