Given that Liberatore did not provide one ounce of evidence and just tried to sensationalise a "feeling" of tanking that he supposedly had, is it concievable that the reason for him being asked to fron at AFL headquarters has as much to do with him explaining why he should not be charged with bringing the game into disrepute more so than discussing any breach by Carlton?

For me, the funniest part of the interview was when the Walkley Award winner  was leading the witness and starts off a question with:

"Libba, you're a smart man..."

I can't believe Hutchison still works in the media after his other pre-season scoop naming Kosi a few years ago.
He is a sleeze the AFL should take his media licence for bringing the game and the club into disrepute with such tattle-tales claims.
Didn't this low-life chase Cuzzy to L.A. on his way to rehab and got nothing but fresh aired.
Makes Dylan Howard look like Ghandi, at least Howard had written facts.
The AFL aren't too fussed this crap kept the 'stern' punishment of the Eagles away from the headlines, yep another investigation into shadows and hearsay.

AD says they won't change the PP as "we don't like to change things mid-season" . He also said they don't want to change it "after only 18 months" - Does this mean he is completely contradicting his first statement? :? .

They DID change the PP rules 18 months ago - funnily enough - mid-season  .

AIIRC...didn't the AFL hand down draft penalty sanctions IN THE MIDDLE of a draft process, where clubs had already traded pick of a certain value, only for them to end up being a different pick? Richmond traded pick 4 to North, and pick 4 ended up being pick 2.

You're right Seig, it was the poor ol' tiges that traded pick #2 for some hack (?) (believing there was no-one of any value after pick 2 or 3) to North who happened to finish 7th. Pick 4 became pick 2 and D. Wells.

Tim Walsh went at pick 4 - just FYI.

Would love a board member to point that out to AD to see if we can get a compensatory PP this year for the change in 06 - I'd even be prepared to give up our second round draft pick for it :)

This is something that sticks in my "craw" (craw not craw).

No-one came rushing to our defence when we got screwed with the change in criteria for the Priority Pick in 2006 which resulted us in getting a priority pick at the END of the first round rather than at the beginning.

Despite us having finished LAST in the previous two seasons.

We actually had to qualify for First Round Priority Pick in 2007 by being being shite (technically for 3 years in a row).

Now that we get the Priority Pick and end up with Judd and Kreuzer everyone is having a little cry, bitch, moan and whinge about it and trying to have us RETROSPECTIVELY flowered again.

So all you brain dead morons who clog up 3AW and SEN talkback lines - go and get "Gordon Ramsayed" - and "richard heads" in the media like Hutchison and Smith etc you are nothing but hypocritical lying, muck raking sacks of shit.

Libba met with the AFL today and was fobbed off to some lowly staff member. Vlad was not even present and is awaiting a report.

Quote:
Brownlow Medallist and former Carlton assistant coach Tony Liberatore met with AFL officials today to discuss his explosive comments last Thursday night, where he expressed the opinion that the Blues had tanked towards the end of last season.

Liberatore appeared to back down from that opinion over the weekend.

Quote:
Demetriou said he was not involved in the Liberatore meeting, but was receiving a briefing this afternoon.

Another potential reason for sorting out the issue of the draft / priority picks....

Round 22 - Two teams are vying for the last available spot in the eight.  One team, is playing a side who will benefit from not winning because of draft picks and that side plays mostly untried players. The other team is playing a side that has something to gain from winning, or playing for pride.

If the first team is gifted a win and the second team loses or is out on percentage arising from the first teams win, to me the second team has some justification for complaint about how the system works.

Watching the footage on TV, it looked like Curly Austin - hardly a lowly staff member.

I thinks its priceless that the AFL sends a Blues legend to talk to the turncoat about the Blues tanking.
