Don't have a problem with those delistings.

Just a question though, for those who might know. How much cap space have we relieved?

Think about it?
Judd - $500k
Warnock - $400k
Carrazzo - $300k
Hendo - $300k???
Menzel - $300k?
Yarran - $400k

There would have to be at least $2million plus freed up????

EDIT - and with that, can we perhaps fast track both Daisy's and Liam Jones's contracts next year and piss them off sooner rather than later?

In all honesty probably only freed up about 500k. Patty cripps comes of his rookie contract which was 80k this year, so he probably takes up 200-300k of that money. The five players we draft will be on 80k each next year. plus the gws 4 and kerridge will b on between 100k-250k each so not that much freed up.
daisy being on 750 a year for another two years doesn't help either as most people say a club can only afford three players on 700k plus a year

hopefully simo jamo white and armfield leave at the end of next year and we have enough to go after o'meara, prestia or wines.

I'm thinking not.

No doubt there is some money freed up.
We have the abovementioned freed up and we havent broken the bank with Trades.
I'm expecting to load up Murphy Gibbs and Thomas' pay in 2016, to create space for a big signing in 2017 and in 2018, maybe even Jones with a view to drop him at year's end if he doesn't show improvement.

2016 is a development year and if we can have a healthy list and players lift 10% on last year we may surprise everyone with what SOS and Bolton have achieved.

I will not be surprised if we are not bottom 6 next year because of the changes MLG and Trigg have instigated. On the other hand, I'm kind of use to being down the bottom since 2002.

Yeah, I know. Think he'll be on the list proper.

I did too, now I'm not so sure SOS will take the risk. I think he's eyeing off 6 picks, most likely all at the National Draft.

Not necessarily the senior list, but I think he might no longer be Cat B.

You can almost guarantee another dozen will be cut end of next year: armfield, gowers, dvr, smith, foster, white, dick, tutt, jones, wood, whiley, Rowe. I would be surprised if any of those players were on our list come 2017. It's a rebuild guys. Means cleaning out the deadwood and starting again. Don't get annoyed at SOS for delisting some guy who tried hard but wasn't afl standard. Be thankful he's helping make the hard decisions that need to be made to turn this mess around.

Doubt we'll get a GWS 4 deal again which means cutting that many players will be hard.

Depending on what DVR, Smith, Foster show, they are likely to get 1 or 2 more years. Dick, Tutt and Whiley certainly under the gun. White and Armfield probably in the same boat.

Foster you'd assume will get more time unless he is really bad. Can't expect a tall forward to be ready in 2 years. Just needs to show he's taken another step.

Unfortunately he was so bad this years the northern coaching staff didn't know whether to play him attack or defense because he was awful at both ends. Would need to improve significantly to earn another contract. Same with smith and dvr. I'm basing my comments about cutting those 3 on the fact that this far none have shown any attributes required to become good players. Looks like the days of re-signing players based on hope may be gone.

You can have up to 3 Cat B, and they can stay Cat B for 3 years.

For those questioning the Holman delisting, yes he did show some sides but he played in a very poor team and he lacked any real x factor other than being a decent short kick. He would not have played AFL for any other club and he wont be apart of our next premiership list.
If Holman is as good as what people thinks he is he will get re-drafted. How many carlton fans think he will? He wont.

Good de-listings SOS understands what we need on our list and we need to trust him he has seen alot of talent and if he though Holman didnt have what it takes, i tend to agree with him.

Yep, unfortunate you've had to pull up stumps, but has there ever been a higher paid player with the return of robbie warnock?

Enjoy it 206, you've been very, very lucky and set up for life with 5 good games in 10 yrs

Giddy up then to land a FA big fish next year. I recall Carlton doing lots of player turnover and recycling between about 89 through 92, which were also very lean but short years.

That is the plan

I'll probably get shouted down for this, but, I'd love to see us record the lowest level of away game participation in history.

0 Carlton supporters at away games will hurt the AFL and other clubs so much, they'll bend over backwards to improve us.

Well put jenx.

I hate the prick. Didn't try hard enough for the club.

He took the pay cheque every week and our off field management were happy to give it to him. They were all as bad as Warnock. Didn't care. They should be continuously named and shamed so we never forget the crap they were since the eLLIOT DAYS.

If you were an overly tall semi-athlete, and Carlton waddled over to offer you an arseload of cash for being a bit better than completely shit, what would you say?

A) Yes please.

B) No thank you. See I'm a bit shit. I don't want to hurt your premiership chances by becoming your un-necessary fourth ruckman. Please keep your money. I enjoy living in WA. Thank you and good day sir.

Hardly his fault that Carlton are complete morons.

I like! Have a feeling however, lead by 'Carlton Mike', the AFL would somehow find a way to punish us for poor away crowds. :yikes:
I can see our 2017 draw now.......11 home games with 11 interstate appearances.

We need to follow the Geelong salary cap model. No player earns more than the captain.

When Judd (our highest paid player at Carlton, let alone AFL) stepped down as captain, should he have taken a pay reduction, or pay Murphy more than Judd to ensure Murphy was paid more?
