Well how do you explain Paul Roos and Melbourne?
An even worse player/ board culture than ours..
But somehow.
Wow..the players now have passion and drive
Also a few gòod recruiting choices
As opposed to ours.
Sure its not all the coach..
But hey..

Really PAul Roos.

Not changes to their board?
New assistants and development coaches?
Quite a turn around on the list?
AFL support.
And despite their one win they aren't out of the woods yet.

Chances are, the more we lose, the more desperate he will become.
Won't be pretty. Don't count on more kids getting game time with an eye to the future.
He said as much in the presser last night.
He'll become more selfish than ever as the walls close in.

That's the Roos aura and Melbourne leeching cash and doing as he says.

If he makes a mistake, they will collapse. If they get exposed tactically (which will happen), they will collapse.

There's a reason I started this thread as Sakc Malthouse, can we go back to the same title? I know the players love him but if I was

Wood
Curnow
Ellard
Rowe
White
Jones
Tutt

I'd love him too, he's given them employment as profesiional athletes when most, no, all other clubs would not have!!

Never looked at it this way.

Pondering

I've said this before and I'll say it again. This isn't Malthouses fault. He isn't overseeing a proper ground-up rebuild, he's trying to turn the list over quickly and find "role players" because his mandate today remains entirely unchanged from his mandate when he was appointed.

Mandate = Squeeze every drop out of this list, and win us a flag.

Until MLG, Trigg and McKay (how the @#$%&! McKay, General Manager of Football Operations, escapes any scrutiny is beyond me) grow a pair and demand that the board "approves" a rebuild, then Malthouse will just keep flogging the dead horse to try and squeeze out wins.

Don't change Malthouse - change the mandate. And get rid of that joke of a backline coach, John Barker. How in the flying @#$%&! does all the play happen in our defensive half and yet the opposition's full forward has the entire 50m arc to himself?

After the match I was frustrated, but measured. Now with a morning to drink coffee and think about it, I'm @#$%&! ropable.

Someone needs to start an alternate ticket, and take back our club. This is crisis time and it's do or die.

We don't know his mandate.

It's seems pretty clear that whatever his thoughts in year one were not the same in year two.

If Barker is shit then MM should @#$%&! him off, he can do that. But you don't know if he's shit.

Someone who should not escape scrutiny is Buttifant (a MM appointment) because two weeks in a row we've stopped like we were shot in 35 minutes.

Enough of this ticket bullshit; a bi-partisan effort is required.

If there's factions they need to come together and pool their resources.

Actually, I think bipartisanship is la-la land. It's a clean sweep or bust. There is unlikely to be compromise from the incumbent board members.

The most disturbing thing for me last night watching Mick after the game was I actually felt sorry for him.
Here was the most pompous self centered arrogant bloke ever to be involved in Carlton who has single handedly turn this team into a basket case.
A bloke getting a million a year and I felt pity for him.
He was clueless and admitted he had no answer for the Rosa move also showed a complete lack of knowledge for the playing group.
It was sad to watch made me sick in the stomach

I don't think so? This is a sporting club, not national politics.

Falling on your sword here from the context of a power struggle would dispense with enemies, make friends and build business relationships.

If it's the right call to make, no one loses here.

I just don't think the incumbents will buy in to assistance, Jimmae. I was pretty close to the Carlton One ticket, and remember how stubborn Elliott and Co were. I wouldn't expect anything different with the Pratts and Mathisons. I think they think it IS politics!

I guess they need a tiebreaker. There's a few people out there who might be prepared to roll up their sleeves.

Yeah.
His gp / system simply because he doesn't have maxwell, harry o and heater in the back line marshalling the troops. Opposition teams work out the holes after qtr time and pick thru it. So what l got from the presser was that once you tag judd his gp is blown ti smithereens.

I watched melb last wk, l watched wce last night, l am watching bulldogs now and what l see is players playing for their coach and following the gp the coach wants with belief. So good watching teams with new coaches that look motivated. Meanwhile, we will continue to put 1/2 ass effort.

The board needs to tell mick we are keeping him or not asap. He needs to know whether to blood the kids or play for himself to hold his reputation for rest of season. This guy does not promote the club with any positivity to attract members, so i think that will be factored in with the current output. The board has to go if they extend.

I have three things I'd like to see with Carlton and Malthouse.

1) No decision is made on his contract until we're at least in the final month of the home and away season.

2) If he's offered a renewal it's at a rate commensurate with our performance. A million a year for a bloke
no one else wanted was and is ridiculous. If he doesn't accept then fine, we move on.

3) If he is not to continue then we go through a proper selection process for a replacement and consider all
candidates, (as distinct from just chasing the current flavour of the month).

they'll probably be 1 step orward 2 steps back for awhile.
they do have Peter Jckson, but they also still have Clinton Young.

I remember wel how that team was with Neeld.
I was in that area every day for work.
it was not pretty.
I'm so happy to see the boys looking happier and healthier in mind and spirit.

I believe he (Rootsy) is having a very positive effect on the club and the team.

Time will tell.

I feel sorry for Mick.

he's trying, he wants to win. he's a bit like a 37 year old boxer. His best is behind him, but he still thinks he's a puncher's chance at that one last chance of a title.

sports is cruel.
