We don't know anything about any of them on what their ordinal football philosophies are.
I don't expect a caretaker coach will make a heap of difference... So let's see what John Barker can extract out of this group if its him.
We might all be surprised

John Barker. the man, the myth... the legend. lets see what he's all about.

i hope he's the interim guy, if for no other reason than to watch him squirm in the box when the blowtorch is applied.

The coach will end up being Woosha. But lets go through a process first.

The bonus will hopefully be about playing the kids. Maybe guys like Graham will get a decent run at it.

On a serious note ... when will we be kicking the tyres and interviewing potential coaches?

are we allowed to interview coaches during a season? i vaguely remember if you seek permission from their club it's ok, but that was a few years back.

be interesting in hearing what a guy like Dew has to say.

Well that looks good on paper.
He is our forwardine coach?
Did he have a saY in letting go the entire forward line?
Does he support a fSt attcki g game style
Or the current nowhere plan?
So much we dont know.
I liked Laidleys game style back in the day.
Guess it is all short term anyway.

Yep, we just need someone to give the players some confidence to play with freedom. There's a lot more water to pass under the bridge before the club is back on track. Coaching appointments are the least of our worries, unfortunately.

@#$%&! that.

It's a nice way of saying "let Murphy and Gibbs do what they want and be unaccountable, so long as they get to play behind play, not have to tackle or chase". Can't say I've ever looked at Hawthorn, Sydney or Freo and thought "Wow, they play with so much freedom".

We haven't got a bloke out of QLD ammo's for a while. That John Blair is doing some pretty good stuff at Aspley - won the NEAFL last year. Maybe we should have a look at him.

Bringing a Royal to Princes Park, you know it makes sense!

This is actually an opportunity. We can monetise this. Make a TV reality show - kind of like The Recruit except not shit and for coaches. Whoever wins the show gets the job.

Challenge One - As a newly appointed coach of an AFL club should you knuckle down, get involved during trade week and really look through what is on the list and set up the next few years. Or be available on the phone if needed while doing a book tour?

Challenge Two - 50 goal a year small forwards, necessary in the modern game or not?

Challenge Three - Winning influence. As a head coach there are going to be some choppy weeks when things just aren't going to plan. Do you work with the media in an honest and forthright manner, explaining your vision and process for achieving it. Or act like an eccentric cauliflower and stonewall because 'they've never played the game'.

Challenge Four - When given the choice between paying slightly over the odds to keep a beloved club champion or paying well over the odds to 'recruit' a mate from your old team which is the best way forward?

Or we could go totally outside the box and bring in a Ric Charlesworth or Joyce Brown. It makes absolutely perfect sense until it doesn't work when I will be distancing myself from it and anyone who supported it.
