Trade Hampson for Caddy?

Delist or trade:

Russell
Joseph
Kerr
Scotland (times up and MM wont have him)
Rowe (rookie)
Bower
Curnow
Thornton (depends on recruiting and a new coach may be tempted to keep)

If we did this it gives us 8 spots.

Dale & Bell can stay as rookies. Get rid of the rest.

O'Keefe needs to be upgraded. Possible to delist Davies and re rookie him.

Bring in a free agent. Might get a late pick for Thornton or Russell.

Could easily have 6-8 picks in the draft.

Discussed this with a few other posters last week.

General agreeance that Robbo is a "trade high" investment. We should learn the mistakes of how we handled Fraser Brown's later years, and traded off before his style turns him into a vegetable.

I reckon he's at the peak of his abilities right now, and unlikely to improve. Possibility that in due course that Bell takes his spot in the side. He has currency, and could see it go very quickly.

Murphy I couldn't get rid of quick enough given that he not only has currency, but is probably the only one on our list that clubs would pay overs for.

Well, thank God that you're not part of the List Management Committee :donk:

Because Murphy is a gun. We won't get paid overs for him, that doesn't happen.
Same with Robbo. He is a vital part of our team.

You trade to move ahead, not sideways or backwards.
Moving on core members of your team for the sake of it is just plain silliness.

Fair points. I will question your final comment. Rhino was suggesting moving on guys like Murphy & Robbo on to improve the list, certainly not for the sake of it.

Good of you to clarify though!

At what speed are we supposed to be "moving ahead" and what are we up against? You might think Rhino has lost his marbles but I don't think you can acuse him of thinking his proposed trades wouldn't move the club ahead.

Getting rid of Murphy would move the club backwards pretty dramatically.

Who are we going to get for him? Buddy?

Been saying it all year - the two Scully compo picks from Melbourne would be fine by me. Especially if we are stuck with Cloke.

Would set us backwards perhaps a year or two, but I think we'd be ahead of where we would be if we kept him in five years time.

Do you believe we can win a flag with a team built around Murphy with no Judd? Unlikely.

I think that would set us back massively.

Murph is one of our few leaders. We seriously can't afford to lose the ones we have.
Look what happened to Melbourne when they got rid of Macdonald, who was pretty much at the end of his career.
Compare to a guy who is coming into his peak.

He's a poor one at that. The best of a bad bunch. I've already bleated on about what I feel makes him such a poor leader throughout the season, no need to rehash.

Comparing a player who is at the peak of his career and overweighted in opinion thanks to Judd, to a 33 year old at Melbourne is a strange comparison.

Murphy? No offence, but I laughed. Tell me you're taking the p1ss. That's a shocker.

What's there to say? That just speaks for itself. Why would we need to argue for keep Murphy, I thought it's obvious, we watch football and see what a gun he is.

Then surely you would agree that as a "gun" as you so eloquently argue, that he too would have worth to other clubs? That perhaps we're wasting our time keeping him?

Buddy has worth to clubs other than Hawthorn. Ablett has worth to clubs other than Gold Coast.
You don't trade these players by choice.
