Tanking or no tanking, the way we are going, the end of the 2012 season can't come quick enough. Talking about 'playing the kids' under these circumstances is like sprinkling flour on a stale sponge.

Roll on change!

Anyone know where Kerr is at? We kept him on the list and booted Setanta, who clearly wd have been handy at the mo. If Kerr can't get a gig when Garlett can't get near it, but is continually rewarded for bad form with games. Hendo injured after one game , how predictable. Great to see Levi and Bell get a gig but will be very tough, Esp for Levi. Maybe we could come up with a radical plan, maybe no ruck man but an extra mobile player to exploit Minson on the ground....hang on, Ratts is coach, no chance of any imagination, be no stats to support anything radical. Lucky we just signed a third first ruck for another 3 years on the back of 35 games over4 years at $400k a year....hang on, he got himself suspended after being dropped to the 2s, so when we need him, he's in the stands. We are a train wreck. We had a great chance to build a side from the draft and we have blown it. It is so infuriating to see us back at rebuild stage, and when I hear talk of who we are going to get from other clubs I shudder, another overpaid underperformer who we swap high draft picks for. Look at north, the list is all their draft picks, no swaps. Why couldn't we do that, what has happened to JR, Bower, Lucas, why are players going backwards, why have we got so little out of picks from late first to 3rd round. We are headed to our longest ever flag drought. I think it stands atv23 years. It is so depressing. 18 years next yr and no hope till we rebuild.

So what:

Tuohy
Hampson (Structurally)
Henderson
Walker
Simpson
Kreuzer
Laidler
Judd (Suspended)

Waite (Not fit)

All out of our best 22;

9 out of our best 22 out. That is incredible.......

No 'AFL' quality ruck man available with Warnock suspension.

Two 'first gamers' come in; one who has played twice this season - the other who missed most of the pre-season and start of the season.

A back line that consists of two inexperienced players in Watson & McInnes.

A forward line with no genuine forwards bar the little blokes.

I just can't believe this current and on going injury situation which has been unrelenting since pre-season......

We need a review of our fitness and conditioning departments. Is it all bad luck? OR has something gone horribly wrong?

Many on here will still act totally blindsided when we lose and blame it all on Ratten...

Three of them are ruckmen.... i thought you didnt like 3 ruckmen in the team at the one time.
Waite hasbt been on the park for years and is unlikely.
And the rest they have all played and had shit games and inconstent games more or less throughout the year.

Without getting in the Ratten, MC and whole board shit again it will be an interesting game from my point of view for mainly jusone reason.
I would like to see our midfield without Judd and also without a known ruck this to me will be the focus of the game.
I want to see if they can actually think and adapt or if they will fall apart.
This in it self is worth watching and seeing if the Carlton football club has a bright future or not.
How they line up?
Who will be responsible?
Who will work for their team mate?

Sorry but the way I look at it Judd getting suspended was the best thing for him and the club.

He is in charge and as such is responsible for our football.

To suggest anything else is an act of mediocrity.

The CEO at OUR club heads up the footy department 'from an outside unofficial sense'. He has easily the most influence - more so than the coach. Other clubs don't have that model but Greg Swann is a football CEO. He influences recruiting, he is the main man in list management - ask someone involved in the club and I am sure they would verify. Other clubs with this model include Melbourne who have that flog Cameron Schwab - a football ceo. Brian Cook is a business ceo. Every club is different - Chris Pelchen has the biggest say at St Kilda now.

Of course he influences list management and player management. But he isn't the overwhelming influence which everyone on here subscribes to because he is the easiest to blame.

Well if he doesnt demand the stature to control what he does he shouldnt be coaching... thats what youd call a claytons coach.

We've gone from Kruezer, Warnock, Hampson and Jacobs to Levi Casboult as our No.1 ruck in the space of 18 months. Geez i must be in the Twilight Zone.

Tanking has returned
We are a real chance to finish below Richmond and Brisbane and quite possibly the Western Bulldogs.

Ratten has had his prints all over list management, he is the one who drove the McLean deal, he was the one who approved us going for Rowe with a second round draft pick (bye bye Jordan Murdoch).

Playing Henderson Kreuzer when not right instead of Bower and Thornton - Ratten again.

Appalling use if Kane Lucas - Ratten again.

Our run of injuries has been bad but it has also exposed our lack of depth, player development and poor injury management.

I will concede that Ratten is not responsible for injury management but as I said before he's got his paws all over the other two.

Am I relieved??? No but i am pretty pissed off.

Drove the McLean deal? Greg Swann / Steven Icke and Wayne Hughes all drove that deal, including the coach. Obviously it is a bad position but to lay blame purely on the coach again is accepting mediocrity. I actually think the philosophy to get McLean was the right one - we needed another a-grade midfielder. Unfortunately who ever was in charge of the medical must have done a terrible job. If there was one???

Not even going to sit here and debate whether we should play Bower or Thornton as neither can take us forward. Obviously this week they were forced to play them... i would prefer, going forward, not to bother.

Sam Rowe? He has cancer. How can you possibly blame anyone for that right now. A key position forward recruited into the club - ready to go - mature body and we are pointing fingers - that is incredible that anyone could criticise that? And what did we desperately need this year more than anything???? do you think him showing faith in the recruiters who got us Nick Duigan last year he was wrong to assume they could find him a player ready to go in an important position?

Kane Lucas played 4 or 5 games in a row at VFL level - played at afl level and misses this week with some sort of injury - i am dumfounded how that is Ratten's fault.

Did anyone on here mention that he was the one who wanted Jeremy Laidler?

We are a pathetic supporter base if we subscribe to the belief that Carlton's football department problems are soley due to Ratten as a coach.

Then again we are a club that has always gone for the bandaid approach - and no surprise - when or if a malthouse comes in, might be the right move to get a very good proven coach rather than give someone else a go, i am not in the position to judge, and Kreuzer, Waite, Hampson, Henderson's, Jamisons etc of the world get through a season - then of course we will improve. But a bloke who has had no spine all year due to a crippled list - doesn't deserve to get the ass - that is just a sensible view - i am more than happy to do what everyone other idiot who jumps on and off the train does and blame the coach. I have seen it before and i have seen it again at footy clubs. Melbourne have a bandaid approach - and see how well that serves them. Why not actually stick with a process for a while/ Stand for something as a club - rather than just say - non finals team - see you later coach. Actually address some cultural issues at the club - like Geelong did. I am sure Geelong supporters were as fickle if not more than what you guys are about Thompson before he delivered them 2 or 3 flags what ever it was.

Actually two out of that 9 are ruck man.

Kreuzer & Hampson.

Warnock I didn't include. I mentioned him outside that number that even he is unavailable.
