Be careful when swapping vowels Bluegirl...

This thread seems to have run its course...Ratts is a legend and any talk of his tenure should be shelved indefinitely.... :sly:

Of course it's only a temporary hiatus.

Ratten bashing will begin again in earnest following the next loss..

Wouldn't it be nice if that wasn't for another 10 - 12 or even more weeks.

you forgot to cry 'no gameplan' and then demand the club sacks him

I don't care if we lose to Geelong providing the team puts in an effort.. the loss against Brisbane was bareable as there was an effort to get a result. If we get thumped and there is no effort or the boys give up... forget about the knives the axes will come out.

So the players effort will decide how hard you go after the coach?

I am a vocal critic of Ratts and there is a lot of water to go under the bridge yet, but I will compliment him on 2 things for today.

1. Defensive kickout zone worked well for the first time in donkey's years.

2. The emphasis on run from the backline (and making an example of Thornton for 'crabbing' it sideways all the time) has been correct.

If you couldn't see a semblance of a structured game plan from Carlton today, then Australian Rules Football probably isn't for you. Marvelous effort from coach Ratten who absolutely outcoached the reigning Premiership coach in each quarter.

I've always had faith in those in charge, and if they supported Ratts so did I.

However, that Essendon* game pushed me to the brink...as close as I want to go.

I guess it depends on the expectations from supporters as whether it is the coaches responsibility to ensure the players are 'up' every week.

I like the way Setanta dragged his opponent up the ground at certain stages allowing a Pagan's paddock setup, and the emphasis on handball to get the ball to someone into space...we look a much better team when we play like this than the stop start kick/mark style that we've seen at certain stages.
