Don't we have 3 lawyers including a barrister & a QC on our Board???
Surely they would have known the basis for their challenge would have the effect of challenging the entire tribunal/points SYSTEM, not just the decision. Therefore, zero chance of success. At BEST, it could lead to a re-think on the system for next season. Would make no difference to the Judd decision.

Challenging the charge and now the appeal smacks of anger & frustration which is ok for us on TC but not for the Board making decisions. It is not hard to see that Judd got the harsh penalty b/c:

1) it initially looked like eye gouging & therefore was always going to be scrutinised, as distinct from a player putting his hands in the face of opponent at full forward, trying to put them off which does not arouse attention.
2) he admitted the act was intentional, which most players in ANY situation do not do - this is why they get 'reckless' or 'negligent' but v rarely 'intentional'.
3) it was clearly unnecessary contact to the face - ie. fits the criteria of 'unnecessary contact' & 'high contact'.

The system may be wrong to equate an eye gouge with what Judd did, but there was no way any of those judging based on these criteria, could rule any other way.
This appeal, then, was an appeal against the system which the appeals board is not qualified to overrule. Perhaps, the board need to consult more prudently before launching into arrogant processes armed with little more than an indignant vibe!

IMO........it all started when Cometti and his co callers said..... "Whoah.....that doesn't look good"......."reckon they'll be

looking at that afterwards"..............and they were right......I thought it looked pretty suss; and so did the kid Rich who

came in and shoved Judd out of the way.

With his previous "eye gouge" charge.....he was stuffed before he made it even worse with his airport comments.

It was so unnecessary from start to finish.......and we lost the bloody game as well...........

I've said it earlier,

Judd should not attend the brownlow in protest and a few of the boys should follow, Murphy, Gibbs and Fev. How good would that look when they can't pan to a judd or Carlton image after the 3 votes.
Judd should not do any work to promote the AFL anymore.
Judd should not talk to the media unless via the club.

If after a game the TV broadcaster wants Judd to do an interview he should decline.

Hurts me to say it but he got what he deserved. He knows better than to do what he did and to say what he said. Just stupidity!

I hope the AFL ask Juddy to help with their season promo again next year.

I know what I'd say if I was Judd.....

Why would the AFL want to promote their game by using a "dirty" player?

I find it puzzling that some of you are under the impression that the tribunal is (or ever has been) a fair, and reasonable institution.

Nobody at the AFL /tribunal will lose their job for this. More likely a promotion.

Something must be going on in this case that we dont know about. Looks to the rest of the world like there is nothing in it. 1 week at most. Reprimand would have been suitable punishment for such a crime.

Good on the club for sticking by their captain. One in all in i say.

Doc is talking about some one loosing their job at Carlton, not the AFL.

bugger, thought it might be andy d. :donk:

Not much to be done now as I don't think it will go to the High Court, as much as some of us would like it too.

Team needs to lift for rounds 1 to 3 to cover for him.

Having said that, God help the rest of the competition in Round 4 though.

So, we have managed to agree on the following:

Judd is hard done by
The Club is hard done by
We should take it to the highest court in the land
&
Judd is an idiot
The Club officials are idiots
We should take our medicine and get on with it.

Can we give it a rest now?

It'll be good for us.

Over reliance on Judd, and Fev has been IMHO one of our biggest problems this year.

We need to learn how to turn it on without them.

This will make us a better team.

No, I think we can get a few more pages out of this thread.
