Ratts has me worried after his remark last night saying he thought is was a terrific move to put Setanta in the ruck last week. Shocking move IMO. Leave him to develop as our full back.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, i'm gonna have to Disagre.

I loved this move and it's the only decent thing Pagan has done all bloody year.
In fact, its the ONLY decent thing pagan has done for a long time.

Kennedy is never gonna be a ruckman. He has no leap and is 195cm.
I'd rather just let him develop as a Full Forward/CHF rather than confuse the poor kid.

Setanta is 199cm and has a leap that will see him being able to go with the 200+cm ruckman.

See this is why i'd just play Aisakie now. We want him to develop as a ruckman and we have just lost our 2nd & 3rd back up ruckmen. Why not play him?

And don't give me this 'he's not ready' bullshit. PLAY HIM and find out. If he hasn't done anything in a couple of games THEN you can tell me if he's ready or not.

:sigh:

First of all, Bluebern reported from one of his BlueSuits functions last year that JK was measured at 198cm. Who knows, maybe he is 199-200cm by now. Apparantly Wayne Hughes said then that JK could well turn out to be a ruckman.

Secondly, JK was reportedly leaping around in the ruck yesterday at Ballarat outperforming our other young rucks.

Thirdly, how is JK going to develop as a CHF when the Supercoach DP has pegged his man SuperLance as our shining light in that position.
If SuperLance is persisted with at CHF then JK’s only position IMO is as a tall FP relief ruckman (& poor young Harts will keep rotting away at Cramer St.)

Fourthly, Aisake is learning & progressing beautifully. He’s learning the art at a higher level now than last year which is great for him. Don’t be in such a rush for him. His time will come.

Fifthly we haven’t got a full back. Setanta had initially progressed enough in that role to suggest he had a real future as a dominant fullback. Just ask Jono Brown.

Sixthly, Ackland is being paid a frontliners salary so he should be made to work his arse of as our #1 ruckman by putting his body on the line and contesting and making life extremely difficult for the oppositions rucks.

Fancy taking away a potentially A grade fullback in Setanta and putting him in the ruck just to cover Acklands lazy arse!! Bullshit decision by whoever made it and a copout!!!
I really hope Ratten didn’t mean what he said.

He's still listed as 195cm on the updated Website. I don't know where that 198cm thing come from.

All i'm saying is by playing Aisakie, it would free up Setanta to go down as Full Back and we could leave Kennedy up forward.

At the end of the day, Setanta is doing a much better job than Kennedy did and i would prefer Kennedy to play as the KP we drafted him for.

And Setanta was pretty soundly beaten as a Full Back in his past couple of games so the move has rejuvinated him, which was just what he needed.

The 1st half in the Collingwood game, Setanta Killed Fraser. Fraser got the better of him in the 2nd half and destroyed Ackland, but i thought Setanta played some of his best football for the year in that 1st half.

Ryan, I said where the 198cm measurement came from ..are you calling Bluebern a liar or are your eyes artistically painted on :?:

As I said, Setanta would be freed up to go back and continue developing as a fullback by JK relieving in the ruck every now and then while Ackland gets a breather after being made to work and earn his money & not bludge in the ants.

As I also said, how the hell is JK going to play CHF when SuperLance has been pegged in that spot??? Tall Forward pocket is his spot for the moment while Supercoach persists with SuperLance at CHF. :garthp:

Do you honestly expect Setanta to not get beaten at FB every now and then while he's developing??
Setanta is a warrior ...the harder the challenge ..the more committed

IMO, Aisake Hampson & Jacobs are doing their apprenticeships at the right level for the moment.

It has been rumoured that Dennis Pagan will be AXED within the next 4 weeks and the club i scurrently in negotiation with Michael Voss. That's what I've heard. Is it a good or bad thing??? I'm not sure but all I know is that Dennis's game plan is not feasible in the 21st century!

Voss is still on the Brisbane Lions list.

He cant coach in 2007.

Hopefully Voss will be coaching next year.

HOWEVER...I hope you are right about Pagan getting the sack.

I reckon anybody could be doing a better job than the Pagan.

If Pagan is sacked it will be prior to the break.

All it would take is one more flogging.

A good 100 point margin and DP will start digging his own grave.

Just because Voss is on the Lion's list DOESN'T mean he can't coach!

I would be very suprised if M.Voss...who is on the current B Lions list...has a contract with channel 10 and has just finished playing...with no experience at all in coaching...will take over the senmior coaching position at the Carlton Football Club in 2007.

He might in 2008...maybe

I was told that M. Voss in NOT on their playing roster. I too would be surprised if he was appointed! Whoever we appoint just needs to have a game plan for the 21st century (and not the night club in Frankston)!

I dont know if Pagans gameplan would survive a night in Franger let alone a night club in Franger!

If you checked, rather than going on what some genius tells you, you'd see Voss is a listed Brisbane player.

Everyone knows he won't play, but is on there to secure the salary from the last year of his backloaded contract.

As a consequence, he cannot coach at AFL level - he'd have to formally retire to do that.

Neither.................jesus, Why is this site so touchy and aggressive latley.

I'm not calling anybody a liar. I remember the report from last year and i think and the time (when i heard that he was now 198cm) i even suggested trialing him in the ruck.

But i don't think he is 198cm, and the site still has him as 195cm. But i'm more than happy to be proven wrong.

On the whole ruck issue,......................

I think Setanta has shown more in the ruck than JK did. I reckon that even thou the stats show Ackland won more tap-outs, the majority of Setanta's were to an advantage.

And no, Setanta is gonna get beaten, i understand that and i never suggested otherwise. He's only really bad game was against the G-train. I love him at Full Back and think he could be the next Dustin Fletcher type player.

But i'd have him as my ruck preference over Josh Kennedy. That's all i'm trying to say.

No calling anybody a liar.

IMO,our next coach must have PLAYED in or COACHED a WINNING PREMIERSHIP TEAM .
NOT NEGOTIABLE!!!
That counts out Buckley,Bond,Thomas,Daniher etc.
Surely Voss would be the coup of the century.I'd also love to see Ratts coach, however my gut tells me that Voss could be something speeeccciaalll. :-D :-D :-D

Its called "clutching for straws" - just like the Saints did when hiring a certain ex-player with no coaching record....

He barracks for Carlton

He was the captain of 3 premiership sides.

He was probably the best leader in the AFL for the past 15 years.

He would have learnt a lot from probably the best leader from the VFL/AFL for the past 30 years.

I beleieve they are 4 reasonably valid points for us to get exicted.
