Soooo....

What have we got so far?

IN:
Pick 8
Pick 21
Kerridge
4 new GWS whipping boys

OUT:
Hendo
Menzel
Bell
Pick 40 something

Is that right ?

I think if one or two of the GWS kids come good, that's probably an overall win for us ..... but losing Menzel is very disappointing.

If plowman does not have a twitter account, this is a massive win for us.

Clearly a decent guy with half a brain.

Assuming Yarran for a top 20 pick is the only trade left, and we want to have a pick in the PSD, we need to bump two of White, Armfield and Jones from the senior list.

On list balance, you could make an argument for Armfield and Jones, but in terms of output it has to be White and Jones, which I think it will be. All the best to Simon if that occurs; I think he will find himself at an AFL club next year, even if it's on a rookie list.

Andrew Phillips - Draft selection (GWS Giants) No.4 overall 2012 National Draft. Considered a Backup Ruckman.

Jed Lamb - Selected at pick No.21 by Sydney in the 2010 National Draft; selected at pick No.1 by Greater Western Sydney in the 2014 Pre-Season Draft. Midfielder/Forward.

Liam Sumner - Selected at pick No.10 by Greater Western Sydney in the 2011 National Draft. Midfielder.

Lachie Plowman - Selected at pick No.3 by Greater Western Sydney in the 2012 National Draft. Defender.

If you include Weitering, Kerridge and the GWS boys I make it we now have 36 on the primary list... ?

Not sure the Phillips data is correct but we managed to get a former #3, a former #10 and pick 8 for Menzell (#11) and steak knives.

If only one of these plays a lot of footy for us plus we grab someone good with #8 we have had a massive win.

The rest is just icing.

Phillips is still only 24. Nice young man and his highlight reel shows he is already in front of arnock, who must realize by now he is gawn.

Lamb played in the Sydney midfield, which means he can play and he has on-field character.

Now bring on #12 or keep Yarran and turn him into a player.

Phillips was pick 4 in the 2011 Rookie Draft (held after the 2010 National Draft).

I'm working off the idea he is now gone.

35, with 3 uncontracted (Warnock, White, Armfield).

I've been pleased with everything so far, but I don't like the fact that we sold out our First Round selection for next year from Geelong.

We basically sold it for pick 8 this year.

3 year deal for Kerridge. Any info on the contracts for the GWS players?

Pick 8 this year gets us curnow weideman or burton a genuine kpf
Geelong first round next year would be say around 11 to 13. I dont know the draft but my feeling is a good mid as I have read the current draft is shallow but good for talls, next year not so
On that basis, it is not a bad decision
If you would have offered me hendo for pick 8 last week, I would have taken it to the bank

Their previous contracts were:

Phillips - 2017
Lamb - 2016
Plowman - 2016
Sumner - 2016

You'd think that the Cats will finish higher than 11th next year, so 8th this year is better than that. With this new future picks phenomenon, I think people might be forgetting that trading something tangible (ie. a player) for something in the future (a pick), means you're actually going without for a full year.
