My major issue with it is that it's not balanced.

Because they removed the pointing at the back of the "C"s, the "F" should have been repositioned slightly to make it feel more stable and symmetrical.

(Back me up here, camel)

It's just not right.

You're absolutely correct KK - I couldn't put my finger on what was so wrong with it yesterday - and that's it. The F has lost it's balance at the back of the head, so it needs to be fatter to balance out....

(And as a Fat C. myself, I think all things could be wider!)

I thought that logo wasnt too flash, then it grew on me, then I saw it on the polo MM wore on draft day and was well and truly sold on it..

I think the jumper change will look good..

maybe the Carlton hierarchy were thinking the old sans serif fonts, particularly the "C" was very much like the Chicago Bears "C" on their helmets, and wanted to be distinct and a new fresh look?

The Chicago Bears would have no influence on Carlton's decision to alter the monogram. Except if we are going to change sports and relocate to the USA and become the Chicago Blues.

The more I look at it the more I like the notches. It's a touch of class that the rounding of the C's has shed for smooth...smoothiness.

the new logo looks so dodgy, it looks more like a "mistake" by a work experience kid than a new design!

Here it is with signatures on it, and the old one for comparison.

Yep I agree, like the club itself under the Elliott rule, it looks too far positioned to the right.

The way i see it is:

1) proper carlton guernsey - the one big nick wore - 1920's to 1997.

This is preferable to all other impersonation guernseys.

2) the other two... I like the 2006 version and am willing to give it a try - less sticking out bits - smoother lines. Don't mind the 1998-2005 version either, but both aren't half as good as the proper guernsey (1920's to 1997)

you know what, while i miht not be the biggest fan of the new design, and think it looks kinda weird, i'll stand by any decision that this mighty club makes because they are MY mighty club.

i'm sure people were asking themselves what carlton were thinking when they abandoned the yellow yolk back in the 1900's!

Wise words bnz.

While I initially was quite against the new design, once a few games are won in it, it will take on a whole new glow.

As much as I love the old 70s and 80s design, going back to that would be a mistake, we need something new to propel the club into the future.

Begone with the serifs and their ZERO PREMIERSHIPS.

A NEW BEGINNING!!!

I'm not particularly fond of the new jumper but it's not the end of the world. Like someone said earlier, there's not much that can go wrong with a white CFC on a navy blue guernsey.

I'm a little bit more concerned about the absence of the traditional Carlton crest (the one with the motto) It seems to have disappeared from all official documenation, and been replaced with this new lop-sided CFC.

IMO it doesn't look sleek and modern. It just looks wrong. I don't understand the need for the change. What is wrong with tradition?
