Umpires were putrid in the first half. Shocking.
See Fox commentators and football people.
2 nd half umpires continued to confuse us all.
Hawks forwards literally given unwarranted frees and kicked goals from them.

I thought we started well with first goal, but then Umpires gave them 3 gifts in the first quarter which took the wind out of our sails.

This took our momentum as in previous 7 weeks we got off to good starts and were able to control games somewhat.

No doubt Hawthorn better than us and I’m pretty sick of being bitch slapped by them for the best part of 25 years.

Hope we can respond against Filth - which really now is an 8 point game.

Amen

We were 2 points down at quarter time and a bit more composure from Gov we could have been in front.

The game turned on its head when Hewett went off.

Hewett has 9 disposals and leading disposals on the ground on a night made for a player who has dominated on dry fast tracks. We only enjoyed his presence for 15 minutes.

Big bodies Hewett Weitering and Acres was exactly what we needed last night. Cripps didn’t dominate in the conditions. IMO he was doing too much watching. We seemed timid. Instead of smashing in to win ball and give them something to think about, whilst wearing them out, we were 2nd to ball.

Our skinny bodies were exposed Hollands 22 Ison 19 Smith 20. The latter 2 will build up the bodies, but that will take 3-4 years. Ollie? He’s no Simmo.

Riley 22 was skinny compared to Meek, but he will build up too, as will Wilson 21 and Dean 19.

I was disappointed with those with bigger bodies, proving they are fringe players, and depth at best: our gaps.

Kemp, KPF McKay KPF Derksen KPD and lost the Ruck. Whats glaring is we haven’t covered the loss of TDK SOS and Curnow. That’s the challenge if we are to challenge for Top 4.

Season is still alive. Reality check. Losing this wasn’t a surprise.

I reckon we've actually gone flat the last month, we just happened to play teams that are worse than we are and kept on winning.

Generally agree although the performance against WCE was good.

Kemp seems to lack forward craft/want the ball kicked over the back so often.

Lack of a genuine physical key forward with workrate is a big missing piece.

Hewett a big loss. Wonder if Lord comes in and Cerra stays out on the wing.

Ollie Hollands had little to no impact.

Ison is obviously a first year player but hopefully his poor conversion isn't a long term issue - he has kicked 3.10 this year.

Hawks midfield is very dynamic....yes Gawn gave Meek a bath last week but putting aside their ruck setup, each mid brings something different.

Lucky for me I haven’t seen a single second of the game. That will remain the case.

Agree with all of this. Kemp is a HF, or depth. You look at old man Gunstan and his forward craft is a reflection of Footy IQ. Kemp lacks that. He’s all grunt and hopeful tricks.

Hawks mids are solid and quick by foot and hand. Well drilled. Respect.
Outside Cerra and Walsh our mids were ambushed.

I thought Ainsworth was also very quiet in the heat and outside where he was missing.

Not only am I sick of being Hawthorns bitches for the best part of 25 years, I’m a bit sick of me being more annoyed about it than our players/club.

IMO, the worst game of the year.

Conditions were shocking…non playable.

Other than Hewett and Cerra, they adapted quicker to conditions. We played dry weather footy when it was raining, then adjusted, but the rain stopped. They played dry weather fort thereafter and we continued to play wet weather footy.

Fraser and Voss can tell them what to do, but at the end of the day, if players don’t have the footy IQ for top level AFL, they haven’t got it.

Don’t bother. Go watch the replay of the WCE, Port or GWS games instead. Dogs wins was good too, and the last 2 minutes vs Cats… loop it.

Me too. I’m proud of what the players have achieved in the last 7 games.

Hawks bring back nightmare games and moments. Today, the Fev miss in 15m in front of goal after the siren.

I’m not returning calls to ally of these smug Hawks fans. No mates of mine till we turn the tables, or they want to talk about anything but bird talk: the feathered variety.

Loved AGRO,s post in match thread

Cardinal Pell must be the umpires advisor for this game.

Meek and his mongrel mates were jumping on the backs our blokes , knees down, no frees.

At that early stage in the first, I think Meek had brutalised Hewett, Ison smashed and Riley smiled and no obvious in the back door frees to Cerra, Hayward and Walsh. It was one way traffic

Same.

It starts with the captain.
