Took it easy. We’ve got this. Essendon** surprised us and got some confidence and momentum. Our pressure and effort increased dramatically after half time. Yet it still went down to the wire. We all love Crippa but two shit kicks one for goal another a short 15 metre pass into the corridor that turned over nearly cost us the game. Derksen just doesn’t look up to it. Sorry. Missed Weiters big time tonight

If we do get to the wildcard, what that will show is that we have developed some resilience .

This might not make sense but I think our first half was a mix of cruising because we beat Geelong - and the mental weakness we have under expectation.

So, to lift in the second half and win MAYBE is an improvement in our mental state. Keep doing that and we might actually build a culture we can take into 2027.

We found a way... and got the job done

We've been on an emotional high for the past 3 weeks and was expecting a drop in intensity eventually, and this was their sugar hit.
It wasn't pretty but people forget that expected results don't always work out in this fixture.
Credit to them that they changed things up a bit and we had to work around it.

We still have a lot of work to do and you can tell that the players were relieved with the way they sang the song in the rooms.
...and I don't think I saw Fraser high-fiving the crowd after the final siren.

I'll take any win over the junkies...

Despite Essendon**'s ladder position the best aspect of there game has been contested footy . A good contested football side . And everybody know's if you match us in contested ball we struggle . And that's exactly what happened . It was never going to be an easy game . Essendon** did there homework . But credit to Fraser and our assistant's coz they also did there homework and responded accordingly . All in all it was a great win . We didn't get our own way . We responded .............
P S ............. any talk of finals is crazy . We are definitely a one week at a time proposition . Just concentrate on what's immediately in front of you and nothing more . The long game will take care of itself .
