Given Hawthorn have our first pick we need to keep on winning to get as high as we can get.

Similarly, Richmond and North need another win and St Kilda need to lose every match for the AFL to give us pick 3 for TDK.

That's the weird equation isn't it

I want us to keep winning so Hawthorn don't laugh all the way to the bank. But then winning makes the TDK pick worse. Is that pretty much it?

My bad. I thought the TDK compo pick was after St Kilda's pick, but it's after where our pick would be. I just looked it up. So we need to tank and finish as low as possible.

The system is broken. If another club is going to make one of our players the highest paid player in the competition then really we should get pick 1.

I don't want to tank if that helps Hawthorn though

We should never tank, full stop. Our culture is a mess because of that bullshit "results don't matter" philosophy from the Bolton days (not blaming him, btw). Also, we'd be trading the TDK pick in all likelihood, and the NGFSA fiasco will push it out to God knows where, so I'm not sure the difference between finishing 11th and 14th is worth much in draft terms.

I actually have a good feeling about this game.
I’ve been feeling somewhat optimistic I think since my expectations were crushed earlier in the season.
Also, I think Graeme Wright will have gathered solid and accurate info over the year about all aspects of the club.
And, I think some of the younger players we’ve brought in are showing glimpses. I don’t think they’re better than most of our injured senior players, but they are showing something.
I’m happy to put my faith in GW to make the right calls re the coach(es) and the players. I’m not stressed about losing TDK or even one of our other highly paid stars. I don’t think GW can affect the Board too much but hopefully he is strong and experienced enough to stand his ground and the Board, under Priestly, backs him up.

I think Sam Mitchell is one of the best coaches so we will have our work cut out for us against the Hawks. We weren’t miles off it against them earlier in the season vs last year when we looked completely lost against them so hopefully we’ve learned a bit about how to play them.

I’m positive about this match and I’m positive about next year.

Generally agree with your post 17P but I thought the margin in that Hawks game earlier this season really flattered us. Their ball movement was streets ahead of ours.

It's a new game tomorrow though

You're right. We need to win. A winning culture is better than one pick. There are 5 games to go and we are 4 games out. Mathematically, we can still get there. First task is to beat the Hawks.

The weather looks like it will be ok so worth the gamble going relatively tall. Hopefully they have "learnt from that" with the hawks slick ball movement and players like gunston being effective from limited opportunities.

Acres is dropped
Has 62 fantasy points in the magoos 2 weeks ago then doesn’t play last week
Billy Wilson has 110 and 113 but can’t even crack
It for a spot as an emergency
Go figure

Same sh1t - but we have no depth with players such as LCampo, Binns, Wilson, Boyd.

So who would you replace for Wilson or Boyd - Cowan, Hollands, Carroll or Doc in his last game?
And would you put Binns or L Campo in before Acres if he is fit to play in Doc's last game?

As you all know, I am not an Acres fan, but I have no issue with the ins this week.

I'll take that. Weddell is an absolute gun.

Boyd before Acres and Harry should have had a run in the VFL first. Just no standards.

There is nothing surer than injured players coming back against us.
Fyfe and Pearce due back next week.

Yeah, hope Harry can put in a good one tonight. Hasn't been much of a year for him.
