Hate to break it to you but no one is giving a first round pick for a guy with a broken heart and the yips on $800k a year

Need to trade more than that. Our young talent stocks are currently probably the worst in the league. We need to be super aggressive

If we can trade TDK it will be a miracle.

He's a free agent

Seems like the commentators are agreeing with the armchair experts that they're are some experienced players that need a spell in the vfl...

How he could give up 3 first round picks for jagga is out of this world and after talking to a family friend who is currently at a club who I won’t name as part of their recruiting team said they paid way overs for him

Sorry, but we didn't give up 3 first rounders and if your family friend knew what they were talking about they'd at least know that.

We traded our future 1st and second 2025 picks for pick 14 to go with our pick 12.
We then traded pick 12 to West Coast and pick 14 to Tigers for Baker to go to West Coast, plus Owies and some change.
For pick 3 and two late picks.

So if we finished 8th this year (same as last year), we gave up pick 12 & 30 (2025), pick 73 (2024) and Owies to trade from pick 12 to pick 3 and picks 63 and 68 (all 2024).
Pick differential from 3 to 12 is 1249 (pick 12).
Pick 30 plus pick 73 (in 2024), less 63 and 68 is equivalent to pick 38 (2024)

So essentially we overpaid pick 38 and Owies for Jagga.
At the time I would hardly call that way overs.
And if we finished top 4 this year it would've been even less, not that it will happen now.

In hindsight with us being this crap we may well be paying our 2024 1st and 2025 second for him as extras if we finish 16th.
Which would be equivalent to pick 4 in 2024 numbers.

Still only 2 first rounders though, as heavy as it is looking like it will be.

The only issue I have with this trade is we seriously over estimated the list last year and didn't address our midfield issues with mature quick players while Jagga had time to step into AFL.

Yes but if StKilda are stupid enough to offer a ruckman 1.7 million a season then we will getting around a pick 3 compensation
McKay can do should get a first rounder and even if we have to pay 400000 of his salary it will relinquish some salary cap space another first rounder
Walsh as well
That’s 3 first rounders
There is bound to be a decent ruckman in the lower leagues
As a rookie selection
Rebuild with 3 first rounders and Smith
Piss McGovern Williamz and every other pea heart off
Start again

Get someone in like a Roos to take over the club and change the culture
Whatever it takes
Because this is the worst its been

Scoreboard flattered us. Pies missed multiple easy set shots that would've put the margin out to 40 points

We're in a massive hole, players are devoid of spark & confidence. Absolutely dysfunctional forward line.

There is far too much Voss love in the media. None of them are prepared to call him out on his shitful game plan or the fact that the playing group appears to be fractured and in no way playing for each other.

Good work, mate. Things are bad enough without making shit up. If we lose against West Coast someone will say Jagga cost five first rounders.

I don’t think the urgency was there in the last 5 minutes or so to even try to win the game.

To those who lump it all on the coach, you're wrong.
To those who lump it all on the players, you're wrong.
To those who lump it all on the recruiters, you're wrong.

It's not so sexy to say so but it's a more complicated mix, as some allude to, sometimes referred to as 'culture'.

But...
I don't put our second half fade-outs down to fitness or heart. Regardless of our lack of consistent talent across the board - it's popular to highlight how our talent falls away after the first few obvious stars - our coach shows his hand, oppo coaches and their well-drilled players adjust, and our coach has nuthin'. As I'm sure someone's already pointed out last week, our game style is exhausting for the players and they've got nuthin' when the opposition changes tack, even if it's just tightening up their game. Yes, we could be better with our skills, and some of our players look like they'd rather be somewhere else at ends of games, but I'm seeing a lot of players who are obviously gassed, and not for fitness reasons. Our coach has tinkered and tried to learn but his main game has always been ferocity. What we need more of is efficiency, something the Filth has in spades, and which they need, considering their very old list. We are exciting when we are on...which isn't often enough. We offer the sort of excitement (when we're on) that is 'great for football' and draws the neutrals but it doesn't win us enough games by a long shot. Sure, if a few more things had've gone our way over the last few years, Vossy might have snagged a flag. It wouldn't have made him a genius - there is some luck involved - but I see a window shutting and our flock flying into it and pooing on the windowsill to boot. Who's going to clean it up?

Sitting at the MCG and not being able to make any cheer or comeback or comment or engage in any even good natured banter because you’ll only be laughed at and ridiculed - it’s not how I remember going to the football.
