We have the talent to cover this lot, if we're going to make anything of this season.
Last year they had a bunch of players out and we still went to water (on Cripps' 200th no less).
Disgraceful game...

Anyway... Have to get Boyd in. Our ability to run and deliver has all but disappeared.
Against Hawks, the killed us in 3 or 4 transitions out of defence (especially after ws fluffed SOG) and that was the game.... BUT we burnt them in just as many out of our defence but didn't capitalise.
Why?
At the ground, it was a combination of skill errors (fumbles aside) and lack of connection or smart play....
We either didn't kick to OUR players advantage or fluffed the delivery. Players6ki kicking to the contest or can't get it over the back.

Hawks on the other hand... created a bit space and you just knew it would kicked into there. I don't follow the stats but shudder to think what the inside 50 marks were.

Anyway... Get BOYD in...maybe for Gov. Intercept marking, run and delivery.... Gov isn't doing any and at least Boyd can do the latter two.

Go Blues

Why not have Gov AND Boyd. We need more proficient kicks out of defence, doesn't have to be one or the other. Having several good options means the bloke who takes the attacking kick is more likely to do so under less pressure.

Big challenge for Lewis Young this week - I’m sure he’s up for it, great learning experience, great for his development.

Yep and also can have one take kick-ins while the other is at halfback

From the last replay in that clip I'm satisfied it was unintentional, but so was Fog's last year and it was "too bad you should have been more careful, 2 (3?) weeks". Love to hear the justification for that.

I thought Unintentional had zero relevance in today’s assessments. The head is a protected species, regardless of intent.

A flat out punch on the jaw has to have consequences.

Lochie Plowman should be exceedingly pissed off after he was done by our mate Michael Christian for his spoil against (Jaga O’Meara Hawthorn I think) a few years ago.

I'm ok generally with lobb getting off but the precedence is clear that its a suspension, or fine at the very least

... Only because who do we drop...agree Gov is a good kick, but effort, pressure, marking have been non existent.

I'd have Boyd in for Docherty or Cowan. Boyd is the best kick in our team and needs to play.

I love both Doc and Cowan but the former is still finding touch post long absence and Cowan has looked pretty ordinary this year compared to last.

Boyd must play.

I thought Cowan was good for most of the Richmond game; his burst through for a 50m goal suggested he was stepping up to the next level. Faded badly and was crap against Hawthorn, though. For team balance, I'd probably drop Haynes before Cowan, even though the former was much improved on his Richmond debacle. Against a smaller attack, I'd replace Young with Haynes.

vs. WB:
Cowan Weitering McGovern
Hollands Young Saad
Interchange: Boyd
(SOS forward)

Having Boyd plus Gov in the 7 also makes it easier to do the switcheroo between SOS and Gov because we'd still have ample kicking skill out of D50. We really ought to do more of this kind of thing: SOS looked for a moment like he'd single handedly drag us out of the humiliation last week.

Check out the image.

Mike Tyson would have been proud.

:hitcomputer: :hitcomputer: :hitcomputer: :hitcomputer: Let's see if the AFL appeals that result.

What do you think the result would be if he broke his jaw?

Then it would be different of course, because outcome trumps all else in this stupid organisation.

Although one can always hope there is an unwritten "OK if you do it Mason Cox" rule at play here. Let's run a little experiment...
