Hi, from time to time I will ask for any information that TC members are willing to divulge related to different aspects of the CFC club history.

This time I would love to know what you know about CFC club volunteers.

At the moment on the Blueseum there is a small section on volunteers which can be found at: http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php?page=Volunteers

As you can see it is just a skeleton of information at the moment.

If you know the names of bootstudder's, property stewards, etc, the years they worked and any information about them feel free to either,

a) register at www.blueseum.org and start putting in your information

OR

b) post your information here so that it can be transferred into the blueseum

Thanks, any information is appreciated.

Have you tried typing "talkingcarlton.com" in the adress bar? :P

What's an address bar? : )

Think it was just the computer I was on at the time, but thanks for your suggestion.

Schoolmaster Molsey here.

Not much is happening in Blue land at the moment. The boys start pre-season training in a couple of weeks, then there's the draft and the real training. Until then, we're just sort of arguing the same points and really not adding any value to conversation

I think it would be a great idea for each TCer to log in to Blueseum and add a comment to one or more players on the list. Perhaps one - just someone who has stuck in your memory, write it down in Blueseum and get the ball rolling.

You can see that once there's some content on site, more & more Blue memories will follow. There will be footy debates worth having on the value of one player over the other, one whether Hartlett really is like Murray Vance (or more like Ben Sexton) and whether Bassett and Christou were really the same player.

If we each add one, the Blueseum may start to fill up.

Anyway, I've added junk under the names Arceri, Simpson, Sexton, Balkwill and Green, P, today. Have a look!

Wow molsey, 22 player profiles in one day. Great effort!!

Just some info on the Blueseum so far:

Been online for 96 days.

35 users have registered.

4 users have been regular contributors so far, JuzzCarlton, camelboy, molsey and myself.

So far 1338 pages have been created.

The aim is to have 1000+ player profiles and 2000+ game reviews and lots and lots of other info about the history of the club eventually.

Anyone who would like to contribute is most welcome. :-D

I've made my first contribution based on this, thanks molsey.

Have a go guys, its not hard to pick out a player and write down some thoughts on what you remember of him.

Just a quick question, where's the best place to research players for games played, draft position etc.

I was about 80% certain I knew, but didn't want to be putting it down unless it was right.

I'm just writing the questions down on paper and will send an email off to Jarusa when I've got a good list... Rusty... what's the best way?

There is a mini-forum set up on the site that only contributors can use that has been created to discuss issues regarding how the blueseum is set up.

It can be found here: http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-view_forum.php?forumId=1

That might be the easiest place to discuss your questions.

I think some thank yous are in order.

Today, I finished the player write-up that no one else would have ever wanted to describe. Or wanted to think about. Or wanted to remember as a Carlton player. Ever.

Today, sam cranage is done. Finished. Entered.

So who's taking Mark Athorn?

 thanks molsey

Looking forward to seeing how the Stephen O'Reilly page ends up.

There is nothing on the Camporeale page yet either. 8)

Extreme pain. Angwin, O'Reilly and Hamill. Try thinking about those guys over a quiet afternoon in the office. Throwing those talents away, throwing us into hell, and throwing the Blues away....

Please PM me if you think the Blueseum posts are too positive, or not negative enough. Hard topics those three.

Thanks Juzz and molsey, top work.

Quite a few images have been added to the image galleries on the site.

There is now a new feature on the site, a 'Random Image' from the galleries now appears on the front page.

Check it out at: http://www.blueseum.org

If you have any historical pictures of Carlton players, team, Princes Park etc. feel free to add them.

PM me, or send me an email at jarusa at iinet dot net dot au if you need any help.

Mark Porter. Am going to describe him as:

'Sometime ungainly ruckman who kept on trying, and would take the odd desperate pack mark'.

Any support?

How about "Bloke who should never have been traded".

How about "a good clubman who tried his guts out and was starting to play some good, consistent footy until stupidity and lack of foresight saw him traded to North Melbourne where he really never recovered".

He was traded because because Carlton desperately needed a strong marking forward/back-up ruckman who could kick goals. Ports kicked 4 gls 6 in 2001 - his replacement McKernan kicked 40.26 in 2002. Of course, with Allan practically out for the 2002 season, the plan didn't work so well. But that's hindsight.

Porter was an old-fashioned, blue collar ruckman who gave his all for the team - 45 tackles in 01 - extremely good for a big ruckman. And I will always remember his great, running-backwards mark over Melb's White in the 2000 finals (I think). Should be included in classic Carlton marks.

Personally I would have got rid of Allan but that's probably a bit hindsightish and I did love Ports' big heart. Allan was kept because he was a more modern ruckman, more agile, got more ball and was probably as good as if not better tap ruckman than Ports.

Just because you're too lazy to think things out, doesn't make something stupid.

 Well done. I thought you might change it just minutes after the draft. I bet you enjoyed being the first to put those names up on the site.

Will have a major update on happenings on the Blueseum coming within a few days as well.
