Martin in because of Indigenous Round?

Hope not.

Disagreed. Effort is not an issue. Skills, speed, gameplan and winning mentality are the major problems. Perhaps it's time to move past slow unskilled players just because they visibly try hard.

No. But if he's fully fit I'd have him in the team 100%. Although you're probably better off asking for a two footed Fisher (or Crippa, or Saad, or... God this is depressing) than a fully fit Martin.

Interesting how the Dogs played Lobbe on a wing for a while and have Williams (another big body) on the other.

The Wing is becoming a massive role now. Acres on one side and whilst I really rate Hollands he needs some size yet

I offered McGovern as a solution last week. Kemp is another (played mid as junior) even Weitering or Jack. You need taller marking options on the wing now. We really struggle with it

This week I would go with

B: Boyd Young Newman
HB: Docherty Weitering Saad
C: Acres Cripps Kemp
HF: Martin McKay Walsh
F: McGovern Curnow Owies
Foll: Pittonet Kennedy Cerra
Int: Hewett Cottrell Durdin Cincotta (Hollands)

Martin & McGovern up forward give us better options
McGovern McKay Young Kemp can provide ruck relief
Kemp on a wing
Mobile defence as Pies aren't that tall

The club had the audacity to call me a few days ago and ask whether I'll sign my Mrs up.

I politely told the poor kid I wouldn't be signing anyone else up, nor would we be showing up, until the players show up.

I've been legends lounge for over a decade, my old man has been a member for 50 years, his old man is a life member and one of the longest serving members in the club's history)...

And they're calling us up to ask for more. They should be issuing @#$%&! refunds.

Kemp. Never been played there but he will next year at another club.
Acres is a turnover merchant who rushes and panics. Is not in our best 22 but good trade.

I was trippin out and thought about the midfield without Cripps.

My starting midfield group could be Docherty Walsh Cerra.

Then I thought I could have that plus add Cripps from a HHF, or something

I'm left thinking. I want Cripps to hunt ball and man rather thane be hunted.
I know its a coaches realm but they dont, or he doesnt.

Who could Cripps keep up with on the spread if they get the advantage?
To be competitive, defensive and close them down?

DeGoey?
Adams?
Mitchell?

I reckon they're all quicker and more nimble than cripps, but it isnt about Cripps. Its about the midfield mix.
We have a great set variety of mids. Then there's Kennedy and Hewett.

Its time for the reigning Brownlow Medalist to step up on the big stage.

SOS has his faults. However he’s one of the very few who gives a shit and his work rate and effort reflects that, all the time. There’s plenty droppable ahead of him for mine including some of our supposed marquee players.

I get that.

But are we setting the bar low for all of them? Jack & the Marquee players?

Done too much, much too young.
Then they played for Carlton,
and held them up with a gun.

Other than TDK, who are we going to replace SOS with anyway? Kemp? He's a HBF....and drafted as 1st round inside mid...ala Crippa

There's the problem. Too many inside mids.

Dow? He's an inside mid.
SPS? He's an inside mid.
Stocker? He's an inside mid.
Setterfield? He's a big inside mid
Palmer, Sumner, Smedts, Lamb, Kerridge, Polson, Gibbons, Cuning.....inisde out mids...watcha callit mids...Le Boix...I'm trippin now

Do we put a hard tag on Nick Daicos? If so you'd think Ed Curnow would be the ideal match up.
If Harry, Cripps and Weiters can get off to a good start and build their confidence then things can turn around quickly for us.

Someone needs to go behind De Goey and pinch his butt. That will piss him off and turn him into the bad De Goey.

When this happens, the Pies usually lose. don't worry about Diacos. You can't stop him. Get the ball first and this will limit his damaging influence.

You know the old saying Suzz , if you are not happy , pretend you are happy . Mate , it works . Besides , last year we beat them with half a side bar the last kick of the match . I really believe we are right in this match up to our eyeballs . OK , we lost yesterday but we gave ourselves a heap of looks but just didn't finish properly . Its gonna click . I firmly believe we are building . Voss is slowly but surely weeding out the softies . Reckon he will get the last laugh . He who laughs last laughs loudest .

A team who believe they'll win every game even when they're 30 down in the last vs a team who believe they'll lose before even stepping onto the field?

Dunno why I've agreed to go.

You've pretty much summed up the difference between us and them in one sentence.

The Pies kicked 18 goals against GWS. 18 goals.
We kicked 8 goals vs Doggies.

The Pies run in waves from the backline, running at pace past their inside mids Mitchell and Adams.
They have the Daicos boys, Noble, DeGoey, Quaynor, Crisp running to collect and gun it forward.

Cripps has to be accountable.
Even if he tags one of Mitchell and Adams, to at least keep reigns on them, and beat them.
