Hasn't taken long for the opposition to work out our weaknesses. They are all sitting up in the coaches box laughing at us.

1. Match up against Cripps and hold him out of the contests and then run like hell off him. He won't or can't go with them. Of course this is intensified with surrounding him with clones such as Hewett and Ed at clearances.
2. We have players in the backline who cannot man up or even worse can't defend 1v1. Opposition coaches man them up and apply pressure, so If they try to run off and attack, they turn it over. Their immediate man has now run back hard and is left unguarded for easy scores!!
3. Kick to Charlie and/or Mckay. How hard is it for opposition coaches to double/triple team if they know where we are continuously going too. Didn't work against WC because they were undermanned, but most teams don't have that issue.

Take all that and add terrible selections and it's a disaster. Over to the coaches!

For example, why is Silvagni playing big chunks of the match at full-forward? I don't get it.

He actually played significant time on the wing last night but his poor ball use is amplified up the ground.

My gut feel is we are playing our best 22 because that’s all we’ve got
IMO SOS is one of those.
Forget about like for like, I’d swap SOS for Bailey to play 3rd tall.

If we could get better version of players for SOSHollands Kemp Pittonet Durdin Owies Gov Cincotta TDK Honey….but we can’t.

We have to make best with the talent available. I use to like it when I would write “Martin”as the first 10 name s and his at HF.

We have to find new winners in their position.

I don't think there was a lot of malice in it. But it was dumb

Although I believe the way we are playing is the biggest issue we can make some changes that will really help

B: Boyd Young Kemp
HB: Docherty Weitering Saad
C: Acres Cripps Hollands
HF: Walsh McKay Durdin
F: McGovern Curnow Motlop
Foll: Pittonet Kennedy Cerra
Int: Hewett Owies Cerra Cincotta (Cottrell)

Boyd Cottrell Owies Kennedy for Curnow Honey Silvagni Newman

With Kemp doing well McGovern up forward
Docherty in defence to help
Back to tough mids of Cripps Hewett Walsh Kennedy Cerra

Definitely agree with Owies in and Honey out.
Cottrell in for ?

Curnow....maybe a sub?
We will need a 2nd ruck against their ruckman...either Silvagni or TDeKoen.

Whatever happens, would like to see centre clearances (after each goal) where they fast kick it/ bomb it deep as fast as they can as far as they can to just Curnow and McKay. No one else in the forward 35...clear them out to 35-50m. The umpire will have to pay holding free kicks.

That was the tactic at Richmond - Hart & Guinane at Richmond.... Barrot used to just bomb it long to him as he could outmark near everyone. Create space. Same with Carey at North. It is logical, right? or is it suddenly unimportant that both Curnow and McKay can outmark nearly everyone?

I like Hollands, but should he play wing/half-forward...more time on half-forward than he is now. He is a good kick. Camporeale was also good in front of goals & a lovely kick. He has an element of Camporeale to him. This frees up the wing for more options.

B: Docherty Young McGovern
HB: Saad Weitering Kemp
C: Acres Cripps Hollands
HF: Walsh SOJ Motlop
F: C.Durdin Charlie Harry

R: Pittonet Hewitt Cerra

Inter: Cincotta, Cottrell, Kennedy, Owies
Sub: Dow

In - Cottrell, Dow, Owies.
Out - Newman (susp), E.Curnow, Honey.

On VFL form, you’d have no issue picking Cottrell & Owies - it just depends on whether or not they have the conditioning.

Newman is a pretty big loss - I think Doc will need to spend more time in defence, with Kennedy coming into the 22 as a mid and Dow taking Kennedy’s place as the ‘late burst’ sub.

If they want to keep Docherty up the ground, then Boyd comes in as a defender and Kennedy probably stays sub. It has to be said that Boyd’s VFL form has been nothing to write home about though.

Fingers cross Weitering is OK. He's not playing well, but he is a quality player and we don’t have a key defender ready to replace him. S.Durdin is unavailable, so presumably Cowan or Plowman would need to come in and Kemp would have to play KP in that event (not ideal).

I would have given Newman a week due to the deplorable effort against Cameron in the goalsquare and then to run towards the interchange before Cameron had kicked the goal. @#$%&! ridiculous.

Yep. I said the same thing at the ground when it happened.

That’s the sort of stuff that speaks volumes BV. Going nowhere when senior players are doing disgraceful stuff like that.

Our biggest fear is not the Dogs but ourselves . He who conquers himself conquers . Forget about new game plans and new tactics coz that aint gonna work . Its wishful thinking . Our number one wood is our contested game . Here is an idea , how about we concentrate on what we do best . There is no miracle cure , its hard work that will get us out of our slump . Plain hard yakka . Concentrate on our strengths .

Why? The club and AFL kicked him out.

I thought Liam was the only player who wouldnt sing "All for One, and One for All". He went his own way. That was more important to him.

I dont mind him being booed. Rish t or wrong it can serve a purpose. Perjaps to remind TDK and others what to expoect from the frustrated Navy Blue Army.

Don't think I would boo Liam. He let the club down by putting himself before his teammates, but I'd wager that many of our squad to the same in less visible ways. He's gone, we got fair value for him, he didn't slag off the club AFAIK, we move on.
