Take the win
We have had 3 x seven goal quarters this year which has been more than half our goals.

Doc was brilliant today

So I just saw Pittonet got subbed off super late...anyone know why?

Charlie said he subbed off for Martin because he jarred his ankle.
The AFL Twitter account said it was Pitto, I guess they got their tall guys mixed up.

Pitto was subbed out. (Not sure why)

Martin was standing waiting to come on. Charlie slightly jarred the ankle, saw Martin standing there and took himself to the bench to get Martin on.

Huge thank you to Jack Silvagni for his efforts again today.

Jack had a couple of big moments, but was his direct opponent for much of the day Hawthorn’s best player (Jiath)?

Don't think that was the problem. We just had no energy or intensity for 3 quarters. We were second to the ball, got outrun and outworked all over the ground, and then when we did get it we fumbled, missed targets, and dropped marks. Hard to implement any game plan when you don't do the basics properly.

Yeah I’ve been thinking this. Fisher to the wing for O’Brien. O’Brien out for Martin. Martin to half forward

Fisher to the wing, row AJ or deeper.

To be 3-0, especially considering our opponents, has far exceeded my expectations.

I nearly passed out my heart was pumping so hard and fast..... I can't deal with the emotions I'm feeling right now. I'm trying to keep a lid on it but internally I know how important it is to keep finding ways to win and I'm scared of the disappointment that comes from a loss.

I thought Jack was immense. He seemed to be the only forward that kept moving and presenting. What a good story he is becoming. He just tries his guts out.

Fisher fumbled all day. Setterfield couldn't hit a target inside 50.
Not enough out of TDK .
Though Doc was huge in the last. Ditto Jack.
George Hewitt had 9 tackles . Very good game. Sam Walsh kept running. Williams important.
Expect plenty of beat up about the Charlie sub in the last few minutes.

Thought we fumbled pretty badly across the board for much of the day after that electric 1st qtr.

We have a foundation to build from, but a lot of building to do.

We've won 5/12 quarters…

R1 (Richmond) — 25pt win
❌ Q1 -20pts
✅ Q2 +28
❌ Q3 -14
✅ Q4 +40

R2 (Bulldogs) — 12pt win
✅ Q1 +7
✅ Q2 +24
❌ Q3 -13
❌ Q4 -6

R3 (Hawthorn) — 1pt win
✅ Q1 +34
❌ Q2 -4
❌ Q3 -13
❌ Q4 -16

We’re capable of piling on big scores in a quarter, but not yet able to show solid consistency over a full game.

Ladder looks good, but let’s not get carried away just yet.

We didn’t deserve it.

But hey it’s nice to win one where we played horrible for 3 quarters

I'll have to disagree...we butchered both tempo and decision making I50 in that 3rd qtr. Shouldve been at least 5 goals up at 3 quarter time

Looked completely lethargic and reactive after quarter time. But geez the first quarter was electric.

Saad and stocker will be a big upgrade on Newman and Boyd.

Martin is another level to Owies Durdin and fisher and should have played.

And I think we can upgrade on O’Brien even though he’s improved. Would love some more speed

Fisher and Owies yes but Durdin stays. Not convinced about Martin. Has not really shown what he can do consistently.

Collectively we’re not getting enough out of the small forward group. 64 inside 50s today for 2 goals between the three of them. They had so many opportunities to hit the packs front and centre. No idea where they were but they weren’t where the ball was landing and hawthorn waltzed it out time after time

Agree somewhat, but I actually think the blame laid more with our talls after quarter time. The ball wasn’t coming to ground because they kept trying to take the contested marks and got picked off consistently.

Room for improvement for sure for Owies and Durdin for sure, but it was the I50 delivery, talls failing to halve the contest and lack of protection in the corridor that hurt us most.

Go back and watch the replay. Hawthorn picked off a lot with intercept marks but there were also countless opportunities where the ball hit the deck and it was all to comfortable for the hawks defenders

I definitely need to watch the replay. On a few occasions I certainly agree with you, but often I though the smalls were in good position at the feet but both talls went up and couldn’t influence the contest, leading to easy rebounds.

Rather than dropping those two, I thought (on first watch) that perhaps TDK could be replaced with a small medium.

Good to win
Disappointing that we couldn’t put the hammer down after quarter time

Good Hewett doc Pitto Weiters Jack
Durdin kept trying

Good debut by Young
H and Charlie not consistent enough

Cripps fumbly all day Cerra and Walsh ok
TDK didn’t do a lot

Slow tempo footy crap second and third quarter
Saad comes straight in Boyd ok but not in best team

Wobbly in last quarter but at least fought back
Would have lost that game for the last 5 years so good to have a win
Having said that aim still want to smash teams that we owe big time
