Every team that has beat the dogs in round two with a caretaker coach has gone on to win the cup

That was fun I might come back here again.

Hung on

Last week all smalls with goals
This week all talls.

A good sign.

Really struggled to get it out of defence in last quarter need to fix that.

Actually thought we should have been further in front in half time.

Walsh pretty handy for first game back

Great to see Charlie hit the scoreboard

In 12 months we’ve gone from having one of the shallowest midfields in the league with Walsh and a banged up liability of a Cripps and not much else to having one of the deepest midfields in the league

What a great win. I'm rapt. The bulldogs came really hard at us. Everyone is pointing to the missed shots, but they came on the back of the fact we couldn't get it past half back. If they'd kicked one it would have actually helped us to reset. Back to the middle. 6-6-6.

What we do need to analyse in deep detail what it was that led to so many repeat entries. And how we work our way through that. It probably starts with hitting a @#$%&! target!

Cripps, Kennedy, Walsh and Hewett were immense.
Pitto great again
LOBs best game by a mile but don't do that throwing your head back shit mate. I hated that
The big boys up front. You're going to win plenty of games when you have 2 key forwards kicking 9 between them.

Our defence is very thin. A few have criticised Weiters. I thought he did pretty good against one of the best young forwards going around. Stiff to give away a couple of kicks I thought.

The same blokes went to water when the heat really ramped up. Setters, Fogarty, LOB, Newman. These are the blokes you don't want to have the ball in defence when the heat is on.

Saad had an off night.

Our mozzies up forward were ok but not as good as last week. We missed Martin compared to Fog.

Overall, though there's still room for improvement, this was a carbon copy of our game with them last year, except this year we stood up and got the choccies. Brilliant win. And there is massive growth in this group.

Haven't felt this good about our prospects for many many years

As supporters we need to keep level heads, our old arrogance can come back when we have acheived what we want to achieve ie. multiple premierships!!!

Great win and great to hang on against a desperate dogs team

Cripps Hewett Kennedy Walsh excellent
Good to see the twin towers Curnow and H actually playing well together

Pitto TDK combo working well

Solid games from Setterfield and OBrien both gaining confidence

Backline a bit shaky tonight -especially at the end given Dogs forward line isn’t the strongest

Getting it out of back 50 a bit flaky tonight

Trying hard but small forwards not much impact tonight
Dogs always a handful at Marvel

Great start to year
Cerra and Martin will improve the side
Fogarty pretty good too

Wouldn’t say that’s a game we should have lost…

Yeah, don't want to gloss over the excellent things from tonight, but equally, I don't think we should gloss over conceding the 6 of the last 7 scoring shots, or barely being able to get the ball out of our D50.

And the two times late in the game we did get it forward they strolled out of D50 from a behind with zero pressure or Tim English mopped up the crumbs. Not really ideal.

We got the win but we gave them too many opportunities to take that away from us. And from my seat on the couch we looked panicked at times, not showing the required composure. I reckon Vossy will have noticed that from his couch too and, thankfully, I think he'll be far better equipped than me to find the lessons from that and he will use those lessons to help make us better.

A phrase I think we should adhere to as supporters -

A champion team beats a team of champions.

Voss has come to our club and given every player a clean slate.

What I mean by using this phrase, is that we don't have 22 Paddy Cripps or Sam Walsh's, but we have 22 players who play to their ability every week, creating a certain chemistry. If we turn C Grade players into B grade players, we will achieve our ambitions.

Amen to that 79Vintage!

Very happy to come out winners tonite. Maybe I was a bit early expressing concerns over Charlie last week, but Im extremely happy with both his and Harrys turnaround this game! 2 and 0 for the first time in TEN years and with the Hawks coming in rnd 3, a more than decent chance of going 3 and 0. Of course we should be thinking one week at a time and all that, but signs are good for the first time in a LONG time! Oh and Cripps is looking a very good chance at the Brownlow right now!

Can’t fault Fog’s effort but we broke down at half forward early trying to kick to him and several times throughout the game. He’s too weak overhead. That was a huge loss over Martin.

Some of those misses late were from fatigue and scoreboard pressure. We worked very hard to make both a reality.

The dogs threw everything at us and we were just too good over 4 quarters. That is a huge win. Make no bones about it.

O’Brien had a lot of good moments and easily played his best game. He’ll have to build on that to not come under pressure in the coming weeks.

These two are the bonus wins we need.

Tiger and Bullies. We probably shouldn't beat them.

Need to win every game against teams we should beat. Sign of a good team. The bonus wins are so important.

Very happy. Bulldogs at Marvel coming at us and we held on. Liam Jones will prove to be a big loss, what a goose. Weiters having to take the big gorillas does put much more pressure on him, and he does look a bit shaky. Hope Oscar Mac can step up.
I cannot believe how good Matthew Kennedy has become. His 15 last quarter possessions probably saved the game for us when several others got a bit panicked.
Wish I could have enjoyed the last quarter more ….

Yep.

Doggies got into the game because they changed their style of game. They had a plan B and it would have worked if they had kicked straight.

We need a plan B in these types of situations.

Hansen said in his presser Omac just had a back spasm

Last qtr tape will get watched quite a lot at the club this week I'd say, especially that awful 5 min when we just couldn't clear it.

But overall we were the better side & deserved the win. That first half was serious quality footy. Our centre square work has taken unbelievable strides since the regime change

Is that corral then tackle on filthy ginger Richards the play that will make #4 believe he belongs? Clearly his best single 'play' for our club.

The plays that define O’Brien bookended the game.

In the first quarter, there was a ground ball to be won and he was backpedaling away from it.
In the last quarter, when everyone was under siege, he had to be physically moved out of no-man’s land to where he might have been useful. It was Docherty that moved him, and he put him right in the spot to make an impact, except the Doggies player went right through him like hot piss through the snow.
