Great bloke.
Amazing footballer.
Like many, didn't realise the gulf b/w the football bubble and the real world.
Probably a fair few hangers on exploited him and his $$ as well.

He was pretty honest - now realises the gulf and thinks about other current players emerging from their AFL careers, perhaps on less coin than he had.
Not an uncommon story - there are only so many who can forge a media career, become assistant coaches etc...

IIRC, Kouta was also Mike's first 'Open Mike' guest - in an hour long format when it first started...

If a healthy diet and exercise and Herbalife got Kouta thru was sounded like depression, then good for him. Why take medicines if he didn't need to.
There must be some bad blood between he and Ratten. If Kouta said he offered to work for free, at a club with poor finances, it's hard to imagine why he was turned away.
Given that he was in a dark period of his life, it is sad the club didn't reach out to him. Shows what a rabble we were.
He is Carlton royalty to me. A Mark Johnson tackle was all that separated him from a Brownlow and another flag.
Hope the club gets him back in the fold.

There was no doubt an over-emphasis on money in the late 1990's and 2000's at Carlton.

Remember Bradley training by himself while waiting for Carlton to come around to his contractual terms.

It was a rotten culture that festered and resulted in the worst onfield performances in the clubs history.

Kouta was either a victim of this culture or a proponent, I don't know, but he was/is a Carlton 1995 premiership hero that gave many supporters some great memories which should never be forgotten.

RING OF HONOUR: ANTHONY KOUTOUFIDES

Carlton’s 1995 premiership player Anthony Koutoufides will ring the historic old Blue bell at the top of Carlton’s race 15 minutes prior to the first bounce, before being inducted into the Carlton Ring of Honour on Saturday night.

Interview was good - he was talkative and answered the questions posed.

He gave his perspective on the answers, and came across as at peace with himself and life.
Glad he has found a passion to dive into.

He still loves Carlton

Thanks for the memories Kouta, and keep your head up.
