i think it is reasonable to raise your expectations as the year unfolds, and the second half of this year has been a big disappointment.

I don't even know what to say. At least Roos last game as a coach was 100 point thrashing. And Richmond are heading for even more. But taking solace in other club's misery is starting to wear pretty @#$%&! thin
He finished up OK against Melbourne and I was hoping he would bring that form to the game tonight.
I missed almost all the first half thanks to a blackout here in the village but I don't recall seeing him get a kick for the entire game.
Got 2, apparently.

So we just excuse the multiple insipid performances in the back half of the year?

We can't hold them accountable to the publicly stated standards?

You can think what you want. What were your own expectations at the start of the year?

Are you going to cherry pick parts of the season?

Massively overachieved in the first half of the year. From that base, IMHO we've vastly underachieved in the second half of the year. Too only win one game and not live up to our own stated standards multiple times has not been good enough.

Disappointing losses in the second half of the year to Brisbane, St Kilda, Essendon*.

Lost to West Coast, Sydney and Hawthorn by a combined 32 points.

During the second half of the year did not have the captain on the field.

Basically one midfield rotation (Gibbs, Cripps and Curnow). A commendable effort from the coaching staff.

Poor prick has a huge task ahead of him.

How is he any different from the other coaches we've had the last 20 years, yet this guy is the "poor prick" (this isn't aimed at you in particular Brad).

He's a poor prick because I love everything about what he's done this year. We're miles ahead of where we were 12 months ago, yet we turn out the shit we did today because we're that bad. He made us look decent for 6 weeks, and someone may well ask why was it not him that made us look terrible for 20 weeks.

He has a long way way ahead, I hope SOS can give him some talent, I hope our list management committee has the courage to get rid of terrible kicks like Kerridge, cuts honest battlers with terrible decision making like Buckley and accepts we'll not be able to kick a winning score next year, but pinning our hopes on Levi Casbault is a waste.

The worst is yet to come. Let's accept it, move on, be prepared for awful the next two years, but prepare for 8-10 years when maybe we can be a good team.

Who's up for the double to watch the Wallabies get another hiding as well?

Our season went out the door when Murph went down, simple as that. A battling win v Lions the next week, then SFA other than decent efforts v Swans & Hawks and a win against perennially fragile Dees. Just needs to be said a couple of thousand times more and maybe the penny will drop.

No Curnow today was really a killer blow.

However... it was still 61 I50's us v 45 to them. Having Charlie, McKay, SOJ up front next year will help no end, plus hopefully some mids in draft and trades.

Dispirited disappointing and inept display made ordinary opposition look good
Last half of season has been really bad today's match almost erases the 7 victories for the season
Today was a train wreck
No intensity no defence whatsoever butchering the ball
Little leadership and no respect for fans who bothered to turn up
Sweeping changes needed surgery needs to be deep and harsh

A really ordinary way to send loyal fans off into pre season
Forward line been diabolical all year but mesmerising in its ineptitude today

A few will but others should have played their last game for club

Must support Bolts but when your skill level endeavour and general nous about playing the game is worse than the 18 th team for almost three quarters of the match it doesn't give you much hope

Last 11 games shocking and an indictment on playing group
Either get on board or get lost your performance today lost thousand of carlton supported who deserve and expect better

Today marked the end of an era. Never will we see the Essendon* Football Club at a lower ebb, or have a greater opportunity to humiliate them in kind as some form of retribution for what we've endured for 15 years. Yet we have continually failed to do so, consistently giving them their only joy and reason to smile. Today was the final rogering.

I was filthy during the game because the signs were there early. Our accountability through the middle was poor.

With a bit of time and perspective, it means nothing. Hate losing to the cheats but the fact is we are not good enough.

Good signs from Cuningham in the second half. Did a couple of impressive things. Buckley has grown as a footballer and hopefully will again next year. Jack busts a gut and JW was good.

Most of the problems came from senior players - Rowe had a 'mare, White is either frustrating or impressive (today it was the former), Army had a shocker, Jones invisible, Levi no presence, Thomas was awful (and I mean that in a sad way).

I said earlier this season we will get worse before we will get better. A lot of the senior guys mentioned above need to go over the next 12 months. Add Tutt, Wood, Everitt and others will go too.

This will take a long time. So long as the club commits to it, I am on board.

I genuinely think their lowest ebb is still to come. They still cling to the belief the return of the dirty dozen will make them premiership material. Next year they will find out it won't.

Essendon* is the equal second oldest team in the league. Hasn't won a final in more than 10 years. They are a LONG way off it. We are in front because we KNOW we are poor!

I agree. Wouldn't actually be as bad if we spread the 7 wins throughout the year and finished well but we won 6 from 7 showed we could play but only won one of the other 15, in the end one of the last 11. That is shit.

Thomas is awful to watch. Just awful. Hopefully Bolton tells him he'll have limited opportunity next year.

At the time of typing, we beat the team currently sitting on top of the ladder.

Everybody needs to chill out it was a tired performance no doubt but we are still in the early stages of a re-build.

Charlie Curnow and Harry Mckay will be like new recruits for us next season. Our forward line is not potent enough but plenty of upside to come.

SOS will clean the joint out again and restock the list over the pre-season. Still a lot of dead wood yet to be cut.

Plus at least we are not Richmond.
