Thought he struggled to be honest. 1 good mark. Jaksch with great courage in the 3rd

4 years difference in age and experience. Curnow at least laid tackles, took a couple of marks and kicked a goal. Jaksch was awful for 3 quarters, non-competitive.

C.Curnow and Jaksch finished with 2 tackles each...lol.

Jaksch lacks confidence. Still only 21 and building up. No hope of him doing any good as a forward when we have a half time total of 3.3. A couple of acts in the 2nd half when he did attack it tells me it's a confidence issue. I saw the VFL game in Geelong in April where he contested marking and attack on the ball was something outstanding. Soon as he plays a couple of good games in the seniors he'll be alot better as he'll feel he belongs.

Can't help but feel the same.
2 very similar games from 2 very inexperienced players at afl level yet curnow gets praise and jaksch gets sprayed.
pretty sure both players will benefit enormously from continuity at afl level

The difference is when Charlie goes near it he looks good and has a crack....when Jaksch is near it there is NO contest. He did have one very courageous spoil though.

Bolton: We showed growth and progress today. Clearly there are many areas to work on. #AFLBluesEagles
Bolton: We were bold and aggressive in that last quarter. Our supporters should be proud of the fight. #AFLBluesEagles
Bolton: Our youngsters showed great signs today. The green shoots are there. #AFLBluesEagles
Bolton: We needed a big-bodied target up forward, which @CharlieCurnow gave us. #AFLBluesEagles
Bolton: I think we did well to prevent the Eagles scoring heavily from stoppages, which they're very strong at. #AFLBluesEagles
Bolton: We don't want to lock @whiteman43 to a certain position. Versatility is his strength. #AFLBluesEagles
Bolton: We had a fair chunk of players below 21. Our members and supporters saw a glimpse of our future today. #AFLBluesEagles

KJ wasn't good
But Lamb and Sumner had dirtier days if you ask me.
Sumner like Buckley shows a lot but neither seems to be able to find the ball.
Lamb just had a shocker he has been ok recently
Also KJ gave us the option of moving JW forward and him back. If Levi was there we couldn't have done this

Great result, competitive effort that keeps the confidence of the playing group and supporters, whilst still keeping the highest draft picks possible.

We also got a look at our future forward line minus Harry and it looks like a good mix of talent.

One issue is that we still need more KP forwards as currently we are banking the house on Harry.

ive been thinking long and hard about guys like lamb kerridge and sumner and wright - these guys like a lot of club cast offs have certain deficiencies in their game that do not keep them retained from their first clubs

kerridge is all heart but no safe hands (apart from his good mark) below his knees
lamb is not hard at it for a half forward
sumner does not hit the packs hard
wright - made errors - he should have led out and attacked the ball rather than wait for the good foot pass

i suspect by having the above players - we get beaten by 20 - 50 points as opposed to 100 points if we didn't have them

i assume all the above players are stop gaps until we keep loading up on high quality draft picks and when the 23's charlie, the mckays and the sos's get more games in them

ps buckley does not do enough and being small has no tricks imo

Played pretty well, and honestly, we beat ourselves more than the Eagles beat us.

Gave away 4 goals at least in Third quarter cost us the game
Skills need improvement

Players tend to want to go sideways or back rather than create forward of the ball

Great glimpse of future today Silvagni Curnow Weitering
Cripps and Gibbs good in third and fourth
Good effort in last quarter
Phillips and Plowman continue to improve

Lamb kreuzer Jaksch sumner fairly ordinary

Docherty agree excellent
Simpson and Rowe good

Wright and Kerridge stil good warriors

Forward line needs work
White good but a couple of skil errors horrible
West Coast won't beat any of the big boys

I would hope with Levi there next week we could play them both forward. We're 6 from 7 with two key forwards this year, zero from 9 with one and struggle to score. Two strong marking forwards, defence not being able to target just one, would really open it up for both players and give the mids much more confidence taking the ball forward.

Sumner hadn't played for a few years due to injury and had little pre-season. Probably running out of puff. Think he's shown enough to tell us he'll do well with this season under his belt and a full pre-season.

Silvagni so smart. Watch how he blocks his man from spooling Weiterings second mark and goal
Kreuzer is a liability. Casboult is a better option.
Kerridge needs lots of reflex work. Fu..fu..fumbles
White, Phillips and Kerridge are too slow at releasing the ball
White kills us with skill errors. Is there a replacement?
I hope Jacksch makes it and needs to play seniors but apart from one spoil seemed a little lost today and is in his 4th season. I thought he was on McGovern.
Umps gifted WCE a few but didn't think we deserved to win

From the chief andrej hand jobber. Your eyes are seriously painted on with some of the stuff you post.

More so, what about the 'disputed mark' rule?

Weitering is a forward. Reads the flight of the ball, one grab mark, reliable kick. The end.

Bit harsh on new GWS and Adelaide boys in my opinion.

I know he's not doing anything spectacular but I think there is something in Plowman. I think he will play a regular part in the years to come..

Not stars but Wright, Kerridge and Phillips are hard at at.

I agree you probably can't have too many of Buckley, Sumner, Lamb and Armfield on the park at the same time.

KJ needs to be persisted with for 3 or 4 games to get accustomed to the speed of the ball and pressure around the packs in the backline.

I enjoyed the game good to see a glimpse of the future. We didnt miss Everitt, Thomas, Walker and Casboult.

We were still pretty clumsy and turned it over for goals far too many times. The defensive disorganisation for Lecras first goal was bad and came back to bite us.

Plowman is best 22. Played undersized all year against mucho bigger opponents and is one of the reasons our defence is much improved this year.

Sumner looks great when he has it, pace and skills. Nice kick to Curnow, and we really lack speed. Also barely played for 3 years.

Both are great gets
