I think SR/WH's crew seem to rate long, clean looking kicks as being accurate. Not always the case. Gibbs is an elite field kick, whereas Tuohy isn't, but both have great looking long kicks.

Short memory. Jaksch looked great in the pre season and everyone was excited especially after hardly training for the most part. Now a 20-21 year old KP player with less than 20 games experience is struggling and people are already calling it a bust?

Perhaps some of our 'supporters' are as fragile and dramatically naive as our board.

I should add I think his kicking is a weapon to be developed.

That would be the one where you hardly get any kicks and you never turn it over.

Too early to call but someone mentioned Paul Bower II a few weeks back that sent shivers down the spine...

Yeah sorry that was me.... Jaksch seems to hear footsteps like Bower did. He has more upside than Bower but needs to grow a pair first. He might do that with some confidence under a new coach. Playing the year in the VFL will help too

I am happy with Jaksch. Didn't expect much this year and prepared to be patient. Good size, good kick, good versatility.

Whiley was disappointing in his two senior games but that might be because of Mick's style (tag everyone) and the team's poor performances. He deserves a shot at senior level for an extended period and, like Jaksch, had a limited pre-season. If Carrots goes at the end of the year, I expect Whiley will do his job next year.

I was never a fan of drafting Boekhurst with the first pick. No problem taking him but not with pick 19. That is not his fault. He has some tools but seemed to lack fitness to go at senior level. That might say something about our fitness coach. Is starting to put together decent performances at VFL level but should have been ready made at 21 (no doubt that's why we went with him). He has been disappointing so far but that doesn't make him a bust. Could be a very handy footballer and we need outside run and carry. I doubt he will be a star but who knows.

The benefit of this trade was 3 for 1. 3 chances to get it right. If only one of them (Jaksch best bet) comes off, we have at least broken even. The theory of the trade was always sound, especially for a club that is light on for talent.

I understand we need to be patient, but KJ is third year in and Whiley is 4th year. Wd be expecting them to be pushing for selection in an undermanned bottom side. The worry is that giving up pick 7 might lose you a superstar. At least two of KJ, Whiley and BB need to develop into good senior players. Before the deal I would have rather taken a chance on getting a star with #7 rather than a couple of guys who have been in the system with a bottom side for several years and struggle to get in the seniors.

Still I probably should wait till I see a few games before I make judgement, tho I have a horrible feeling that Wright might be the next Paul Salmon.

What has Wright done to suggest that out of interest?

Actually Dane, not much to be honest. But the wraps on him at U/18 and his brief senior cameo in driving rain the other week suggested he might develop into something special. And I really hate swapping high draft picks, how many times has that worked for us?
Maybe I am wrong but I get nervous when guys are not pushing for selction in their thrid or fourth year

I think the bigger concern is why does KJ look so weak? After three years he's still a flabby stick insect. The lad needs to put on bulk ASAP

I would rather we had Peter Wright. Still that happened before SOS joined us. Hopefully in the future we trade our way to earlier picks not later picks. We need guns in our side not good ordinary players.

I can give him a 101.... big business is personal training, is there a market for gaining weight training?
