cripps will smash them

Of course he will. Actually off the back of some very mature and measured advice, I've gone $100 ($10 not enough) on the Crippa doing the Brownlow, Coleman and Norm Smith in 2015.

Oh...and if he doesn't achieve that all before 30 games a delist for 2016.

Completely agree with this. Develop him as a ruckman who can rest forward, rotating there with Kreuzer. Not as a primary forward.

@#$%&! lol. Upward of 5 unforced changes to a team that won by 40 points...some of you love the taste of your own bathwater.

I think the second ruck role will vary from team to team. Collingwood strike me as one we could take a gamble on, without really worrying about Grundy hurting us.

Having said that, it depends on the fitness of Jamo. If he plays, I think you drop Casboult, and take the chance on Rowe rucking, and Jaksch as your swingman. Jamo not there, and obviously we can't do it (unless Watson rucks and you take the gamble of picking him ahead of Jaksch).

Think it'll be a fairly straight forward swap of Judd and Menzel for Dick and whichever mid is unlucky enough - I assume it'll be Boekhurst with a six day break and questions over his ability to run out a game.

Rowe should never ruck again.

Probably not. I'd also prefer I never see a Levi Casboult set shot in a Carlton jumper again either. If Brodie Grundy tears us a new asshole on Friday night, there's bigger issues than selection.

Worth noting Jaksch did fairly well on Cloke in the NAB Challenge also.

For all the talk about Cripps coming back to earth this week against "real" competition, they also don't account for Judd coming back in and taking the majority of the contested ball at the stoppages away from him as well.

Given Collingwood's fair stock of short midfielders, and the likelihood of a tag, I'd clear the forward line and start him one out in the square with his opponent, with Menzel high up on the 50.

I reckon Judd coming in is bad for Cripps. Pushes Cripps out of the contest and to where he's less effective, the outside/spread.

Agreed. Hence why I'd play him forward to begin with, rotating with Judd.

No one's suggest 5 or more unforced changes?

We are about to go from 31 fit and available players to 36-38 though.

Ah right, I didn't even notice half of the changes he'd made.

Yeah I think I've made my thoughts on his talent ID abilities pretty clear in the past. That reads like something a Hun journo would write on a napkin and submit to an editor.

You have a point. Can we find a new role for him as a follower when not rucking...just plays between the arcs, some relief rucking, some getting back when needed, some forward entries where some small follows him..and if he marks, its a quick handball, shepherd and shot at goal.

He will not make it as a forward-2nd ruck. His role needs tweaking because his kicking can't be tweaked
Keep him out near the 50. It's his close-in kicking that's a problem. Kicking from outside 50 not so much as he kicks through the ball. He can bomb it ok.

First forward-2nd ruck that rest on the half forward flank...lol!

Absolutely!
Or put him on Cloke? Is that waste though?
If Jammo is fit he must play.
My Q. is,
Who can we replace Rowe with?
He is not fit enough at the moment.
Do we have anyone?

I guess it depends who is coming back in.

Maybe we should look at putting Casboult on the backline for a while. He is a good mark and may take off he pressure of his kicking if he cant see goal posts in front of him. Watson on the forward line, at least he is a half decent kick.

As well as giving Judd the outside space and letting Cripps continue learning his craft on the inside

Fmd! Rowe on Cloke. God help us.

You must overrate Cloke

Did you see Rowe today? I'd kick 6 on him lol.

He has certainly had a shit start to the year after showing some promise last year.

Sorry but I can't agree. Whether Judd is there or nor Cripps should be in the center square for every single contest and around the ground as much as possible, unless our midfield coaches and everyone else is watching a different game to me.

Cheers

This is the game that can change or fortunes this year.
Friday night game.
Everyone watchimg, including potential journeymen who aren't considering Carlton.

Regardless of our position on the ladder we do attract big crowds against Pies Dons and Tigers.
This is a big stage game. The atmosphere will be electric.

We must not only put on a good show, we need to pick our best team to win!
If that means 1,2 , 3,4 changes I don't care.

I don't want to be carrying Jammo. He's playing injured like he did in 2012.
Not worth the risk.

Rowe is badly out of form and should be dropped but with Jammo out safe for now.
Bring in Jaksch.

Judd is an auto selection. I'm guessing one of Dick Carrazzo or Curnow make way.
Don't think Curnow did an amazing job on Jack Stevens and have no idea what Carrazzo role was.
I'm not keen on the latter of those two.

Yarran and Kreuzer can't be considered, same with Warnock.

Will Menzel and Byrne be available? If so bring them Carrazzo and Curnow look like they're in trouble, maybe Boekhurst is sub.

Backline

Buckley Rowe Byrne
Walker Jaksch Tuohy

Midfield

Wood/ Casboult
Judd Cripps Gibbs
Murphy Simpson Docherty

Forward line

Jones or Watson?.....conundrum...maybe one more chance for Jones to heed the advice of Gerard Healy.

Henderson
Bell. Menzel Armfield

Swingman

Everitt
