I'm pretty sure you'd already know if we had a replacement.

'The talk' seems to be that SOS is going to oversee a recruiting network and use the intel to deliver reports and make calls with the coaching staff. That's a decent way to handle it. SOS gets told types, and invests scouting time on matches/players that offer a good show case of likely talents.

As long as SOS has someone that can help him handle the recruitment network I see nothing wrong with that sort of structure. His job is to organise, collate, delegate and then make a recommendation so that the recruiters worry less about the club's needs, and find the best talent in the land. If the club needs more info, SOS asks them to go get it, or engages himself or another third party more qualified if it's not directly football-related.

I don't imagine so, but perhaps we thought he was qualified to do it?

As for the SR side of it, I would imagine he didn't like the idea of a short leash. Add the mid-2014 near-firing, and he probably didn't like his job role and security enough to stick around. I'd say the mismanagement of allowing the Graham Wright story to reach SR was the only thing the club could have done better (though apparently it was MLG acting alone), and in the end that's because Hawthorn kicked up a fuss and enforced the contract, which is their right.

We didn't pull some sneaky move, Hawthorn just strutted around like a peacock.

I disagree. The club already does mismanagement better than anyone.

Article on The Age also says Jason Reddick recently left, for Williamstown. Hard to see that being his decision.

It was doc sherrin's decision

Really? What is it about SOS's record you're afraid of?

I hope he's gone for good this time around!

But what a joke our off field processes are. We will not
improve on field until our executive improves.

I'm starting to think Southby is just a sock puppet for the club...

Also, bleh. Rogers clearly had minimal say in this year's ND picks (Smith was Wiley's favourite, Boekhurst was highly needs based via coach, DVR was another coach-influenced but had been a favourite of one of the other recruiters).

Then you've got his RD picks in Gowers, Walsh & Fields. I understand all of them, but I'm not a massive fan of the Walsh pick, and also not selecting a ruckman to develop. There was clearly some tension there in regards to when not to pull the trigger on a type, and Rogers doesn't feel comfortable with the current form or level of the scrutiny.

Hopefully for us that's because he's not up to scratch outside the talent ID component of his job.

..i thought BB was all Rogers choice, he had been watching him for a few years..

If he wasn't expressly told to get the best wingman he could find at #19, I'd be surprised.

He lost me by talking up an over-age smokey rated at pick 60ish to the point where we needed to use pick 19 in the space of a month.

By the way dont asked Cazzeman anything
He thinks everything has been hunky dory for the last 20 years.

Correct, no one can criticize anything at the club under any circumstances in Cazzeman world.

He was always in the 18-30 range.

What has he done that's any good at GWS? I mean time will tell but it looks like they flowered up their whole list profile by having 4 billion kids and not knowing what to do with all of them, so have now ended up losing a fair few of them for little return and with the likelihood of losing more.

I think you'll find he's a bit older than that. Just ask Mrs Caz.
