Seriously....

WHAT THE @#$%&!.

If any of those cauliflower had the name "Adrian Gleeson", you'd be all frothing at the bit. Instead we've ended up with the Key Selection Criteria akin to selecting Kids Council at suburban primary school. "Age withheld"...."So and so works with kids so they'll have a unique view of things"......"This bloke's worked in a call centre before". Well fuckitty do, if I'd known that, me and the Mrs and maybe Warby could have solved all the woes of the club over a beer at the Great Northern.

@#$%&! embarrassing. Fire someone. Fire their family where possible. Make them wear the really shit stuff the club store can't sell as a walk of shame down Royal Parade. Then set them on fire.

It won't.
Why?
Because the club portends to be doing the right things on the surface and below doors the opposite.
There are genuine reasons why this club loses 1.6 million a year has 45,000 members and an average performing team.. It's not bad luck.
The people running the club have been the same heads for the last few years split into two camps.
They're not going to hand this club to anybody new now.. Not are they going to suddenly come up with landscape changing ideas now..

The club has a culture embedded in itself. Used to be winners but it's greatest asset is now it's Achilles heel.

For years they have been turning away the many for the few. The more they rely on the few the more closed their perception of the club is for the many because the few have a sense of ownership of the club.
Which leads us to where were at now...
Forty five thousand members
One point six million dollar loss
Average performances.
A club that is reminiscent of a hospice .. The stench of death at every turn.
A plan not to invigorate the club from head to bottom leaving no stone unturned but a plan as to how to control who comes on the board even more..
When was the last time we had people come through the system of election onto the board?
This selection committee will make the process even more exclusive the screening even more intense.
Would Pratt pass the screening if he was alive!? Well he might or might not depending on his they viewed him...
You don't build clubs with wedges... But this is how this club is going about is business.
Basically they know that people like to be involved in clubs.. So they will show representation but then control it.
Every layer including this layer of involvement will be manipulated by people that know nothing about embracing other people and only understand life in the bubble..
They talk involvement however the realty is the opposite.
Watch what they're doing but what they say.
Carlton oligarchs speak with forked tongue..
Don't believe me! Look at their record

Did they have an Independent Nominations Committee approve the appointments?

Shouldn't they be focusing their attention towards the many thousands of Carlton fans who are not currently members. It seems to me therein lies the root cause of the problem.

Fine ask members for their views but converting non members is the real aim here.

I doubt our membership department would be able to produce a list for follow up.

I know many like myself who love the club, go regularly and take our kids but haven't been members for years.

Exactly
They are not interested in us because in their minds they will replace us.
..
. they're so stupid
That's why the club is lost

That's a very naive view of things, unless they're completely dumb and inept these types of emails would be going to recent members that have an email address in the membership database.

One of the biggest issues across all clubs, and I suspect ours is one of the worst, is membership churn. Doesn't mean they still can't communicate to those who for whatever reason aren't members for a particular year.

Unlike some here, I can see a real difference in how the club are doing things. Just wish all areas were synergised at once and some sort of success was happening at the same time.

That's a clear thought process for MLG for the INC, your just too stubborn to move past it yet it's clear as day to me

You are wrong.
MLG is into committees... They look good.
They do sweet @#$%&! all.
What he needs is policy initiative to connect.
Having layers of committees that bog more things down ridiculous.
Were not talking about a billion dollar company.
Were talking about a club.. It's simple... Lol
For he understand the club? I have no doubt he doesn't understand this club...
Is not like hasn't been part of the DNA of what made this club what it is right now. He's been on the board for a few years along with his current board. Collectively they have vote on time that have brought us to this point today.
He is a product of everything that had helped bring mediocrity.
Is he trying? Sure he's trying.. But he doesn't know how to create a club...
He helped bring us a 1.6 million dollar loss... He helped this club attain a remarkable 45,000 members.
I know the inner workings of this club better than most.. Make no mistake...
MLG is party of the mediocrity.. Sure he has come on a shuffled the cards to give you the impression this are different.. Bit this are the same because the culture the club exists within is the same.. He a product of the same culture and whilst it seems he's making change.. Because he is... Were not going to be world beaters.. You won't be seeing a flag for the next couple of decades at least...

You won't be seeing us scratch the surface of the kind of CLUB we should be..
And he will be yet another red herring.. This will continue till the culture change... And there's a complete and thorough extermination of everyone at this club from top to bottom

Simple what needs to happen.
Bit they went do it.. In they're committed to maintaining the backwards culture.. So he's doing the opposite of what he should be doing...

This club should never be about hope. It should been about being a juggernaut.
We've forgotten what it's like..
Hope is for saints and dogs supporters.
But before we can lift ourselves to that we must be honest about why were here and what we really need to do from this point...
Whatever these people have been doing hasn't worked. It doesn't need tinkering it needs an internal overhaul and a change of culture that's definitive...
The same heads and suits won't provide it because they haven't been capable of providing an exodus from the mediocrity they have immersed us into.
If they knew what to do they would have done it

They will improve us for sure and we will move forward just as if I raced an Olympic gold medalist I too would be going forward but in reality I'd be getting lapped.

Jeez I can't wait for our club to be successful again so it's not so easy to take the supposed intellectual high ground on every damn initiative.

You don't need intelligence to see we're a broken club..
You won't see real success on our lifetimes

At 24 I hardly saw our last one

I just feel though our lack of success has been a three decade long issue, we never adjusted to the AFL system until about five years ago. The remnants of those holding on to power are slowly dropping off though and there are many more reasons for hope than in my lifetime, which albeit is a very low base but the foundation of a professional sporting organisation is there compared to the footy club it used to be.

With over 500 nominees for the inaugural Member Council, eight members have been selected to represent the Carlton membership community. The range of nominations from the entire cross-section of the Carlton community demonstrated the passion that Carlton members have for their football club and a willingness to help participate in this significant initiative in helping to further improve the Club’s relationship with its member base.
==========================================================================

Members have been selected to represent the Carlton membership community

Another INDEPENDENT democratically structured committee

Who filtered the 500 nominations and came up with the 8 successful committee members and on what criteria were they chosen?

I am certain that the 8 members are all passionate carlton members and very capable.

However they do not have a mandate to represent the "Carlton Membership Community" unless they are voted in by members.

Another Board appointed committee designed to control dissent.

I no longer recognise the Carlton Football Club - the Jumper looks familiar - the club has gone somewhere else in the ether sadly
