The Blue Print is a steaming pile of turd and deserves to be held up to ridicule.
The depth of our crisis has finally hit the mainstream this year. It's about time.

No one knows what we stand for because there are so many mixed messages. Premiership clocks. Rebuilding. We so badly stuffed up our big chance to turn things around during the past 10 years that the decisions now being made will determine if we continue to morph into the next Richmond and Melbourne. That cannot be underestimated.
At least now the mainstream media is scrutinising the people making these decisions. And enjoying taking the piss. Problem is we by and large still have the same decision-makers on board.

But, for starters, I'd like my club to stand for putting out a team each week that has a crack. That doesn't go missing for a quarter and/or a half. A team that tries. A team that is blooding kids. A team whose leaders lead and are educating the youngsters. A team that doesn't rely on senior players being dropped and publicly humiliated before they come back in and play out of their skin for a week or maybe two. A team that wouldn't soft cock it against the Scum in their pathetic coach's final game. Has anyone else ever been so angry? A team full of players who put their heads over the ball. Run both ways. They mightn't always win but they never give up and each week there are signs of improvement.

That old feeling Friday night reminds us why we love Carlton. Graham's goal. Docherty. Everitt. Gibbs and Murph. Our boy Menzel. Crazy Robbo knocking a Roo for six. Simmo. Sam Rowe proving many wrong. A ruckman taking a mark! Juddy grinning like an 18YO singing the team song.
A team that makes us proud. That would do me, for now ... because the rest would eventually come.

The players need to swell with pride when they pull that Navy Blue jumper on. I want to feel those goose bumps again. The tingle down the back. Some of us are forgetting that. Getting nervous before a game again ... because it matters. There's something on the line other than a better draft pick.
The club needs to keep reminding us. It needs to renew and replenish our dwindling passion. We're here ... the club just need to find us again and tap back into it. It needs to find people who can do that.

And I think Sam's a little bit hot.

Yep, spot on Kenny. "That old feeling Friday night". I was so glad to be there, haven't felt like that at a game for a long time. Didn't want to leave afterwards, on the phone to my wife who'd declined to accompany me. "How good was that?" (She'd turned off at three quarter time thinking it was all over. Tuned in again with a few minutes to go to see how much we'd lost by.) Fans singing the club song, just great.

"Getting nervous before a game again, because it matters". Ah jeeze, know just what you mean Kenny. Just a great post.

Re: Time for Carlton to stand for something:

Too late ... first we hire Madhouse ... now we hire Trigg.

Uninspiring ... lack of vision ... lack of integrity.

The whole premise of the areticle is based on this:

""I am Carlton" was the self-assured sounding marketing mantra selected for the club's jubilee year. How remarkable that, by mid-season at a gala event to honour the Blues' long list of legends and their numerous feats, nagging questions burned about the now: who exactly is Carlton in 2014? Who and what is Carlton beyond that? What are the features of its modern-day culture?

Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/t ... z38ItRdEcN"

Read great but it is false.

The marketing mantra for 2014 was not "I am Carlton". That was 2013.

It was "We are the navy Blues".

Have a look at your freaking 2014 fixture magnet?

I question anyone who does not know what the marketing slogan for their club is for that year. Even more when they are a journalist. Times 50 for a journalist that supports Carlton.

This also applies for forum 'entities' who claim to support Carlton.

Surely someone, anyone? Would have picked up on this major mistake in the article? After all they are quick to pick up on the many mistakes made by slobbo and company?

Yeah, Nah.

Does not suit the "slag the club you support at any opportunity" crowd.

The article was critical generalities with no specific solutions.

It could have been written by many people on this forum.

I agree. Something about that article didn't sit right with me, and I thought it was the "bandwagon-ness" of it, or the johnny-come-lately condescension, but you've encapsulated it for me. It's the unthinking, populist attitude of it. How to write an article, not say much, give absolutely no specifics, and still appeal to both Carlton and non-Carlton people alike.

If I wasn't rusted on, I reckon I'd have given it away years ago. Ha!! Instead I indoctrinate my poor grandson and my daughters before him.

Time for Carlton to stand for responsible financial management.

The utter waste and mismanagement of club monies has been scandalous.

Just got the phone call for the $200 raffle ticket for $50,000 cash first prize with only 1500 tickets to be sold.

Is this what you are looking for Rexy?

I think giving upwards of 100k to an HR firm that shortlisted the same guys that an SEN caller from Mill Park would have is bordering on financial waste...but on the flip side the new President is on a hiding to nothing if he doesn't go through a proper 'process'. It's just that I detest the line that gets run out of "we undertook a global search" for the new CEO. The reality is - no global search was done...but they sure paid for it.

We have merely played AFL endorsed CEO musical chairs, which shows how much of an ole boys club the AFL is.
