One of the best signs I saw today was the fitness level of Levi.

Midway through the last he pushed all the way up the D50 line to help out and provide a target. He offloaded wide and the ball traveled the length of the field along the boundary. Necminute he was in the goal square treating Montagna with total contempt to brush him aside, mark easily and goal.

Great running from the big man. His marking was sublime today.

Regards Cazzesman

LEVI has punished 2 weak backlines. Hawthorn minus lake and gibson and stkilda. The improvement is undeniable but I want to see him hurt quality opposition. I will be screamed down for this, I am not sure he isnt the player anofther side would pay overs for at the trade table

You missed him dropping in the hole last week and getting smashed.

You also missed his first season when he got smashed week in week out.

Nice of Daisy to get involved later in the game today. Game was over, but still.

No performance anxiety when not playing the Pies.

..punished weak backlines on the scoreboard yes... ..but he has beaten good opponents in the air all year.. ..as he gets fitter, he will beat better defenders as well.. ..you can't beat a ruckman sized forward that takes contested pack marks like Levi.. ..better kicking too, am a fan..

Lucky we didn't use today to give holman and graham a run. Very dangerous ag the power of the saints. Might have meant we only won by 80 pts

Didn't see the match, and won't be watching any matches until I find out Carlton isn't disadvantaged by "equalisation" measures from the AFL. Carlton will probably be diverting $300,000 to various clubs at the end of the year - one of those clubs probably being St Kilda. No Carlton money should go to St Kilda.

Why Carlton has to help fund North Melbourne's rise up the ladder is beyond human understanding. North must be grateful- having beaten all the top teams, and then also getting Carlton's money on top. Joy to the world !

As North is a top 8 - potentially top 4 team - does that mean they are officially more "equal" than Carlton now and that Carlton doesn't have to fund their tilt at the flag? When does the equalisation finish and begin?

artificial league

artificial game

north get nothing from me....

I did notice that the players tried to lower their eyes today, with flatter passes to players. Did anyone notice this? It seems like this was a focus.

Walker is terrible down back, kicks to a close contest and turns it over. Grrrrrr

Considering the kids Mick has shown faith in in Menzel, Buckley, Johnson, Cripps (prior to injury) and Docherty, have all slotted in nicely at AFL level, I'd be backing his knowledge of player development over that of keyboard warriors any time of the day.

Good to have a win albeit against weaker opposition.

I find it amusing that only 2 months ago, the media were lauding St K recruiting, it's game plan, it's coach, etc etc.

Not too much chop at the moment.

Anyways good to beat this mob who have dominated us badly over the last decade.

yeah and richardson doesnt get emotional in the box because he needs input form his assistants
no way will he be a career coach

they have few members
huge debt
no talent
no culture of winning

they wont be bobbing up any time soon....
by the time they do he will have had his throat slashed

Confidence booster against crap opposition.

Nice straight kicking too.

Annoyingly typical lapse in the second quarter.

Carazzo needs to be retired.

Johnson is like an upgraded Collins. Gets a bit close to the man on mark when taking set shots but he was excellent.

Big Levi is a monsterous mark. Rowe continues to develop nicely and White was very handy, albeit against a very undermanned back line.

You still done with the Club ?

Na, I'll hang around for the next chapter. Should be interesting.

The recent pain was eased a bit by today, but under no illusions. Good to see development of some young guys, and big Levi is on the upward spiral

I hate not wanting to win games as a cellar dweller though. Not healthy at all for supporters

Don't want to focus on negatives. It was good to win but the 2nd 1/4 lapse just summed up our season.

Positives included the spread of effort and a win without Gibbs/Judd having a great influence, Casboult had some good moments. Hendo worked hard, a lot to like about Johnson and Everitt/Docherty were good recruits who should vote pretty well in the B&F.

Negatives were the lapse of concentration and lack of tackling pressure. For the most part the Saints were putrid.

reserves got belted by 14 goals the week before. pretty hard to find players to promote when you get smashed like that. bell was the best player in that woeful performance and got a call up.

you cant gift games just because someone is young.

ps holman isnt ready

The blokes in the Fox Footy box were actually talking up our list going forward, which I couldn't believe.
Were saying that we ve got a good base to work from (Murph, Gibbs, Thomas,, Everritt, Hendo, Jamison) plus some quality kids coming through (Buckley, Menzel, Johnson, Cripps).
Older but inexperienced players like White, Rowe and Casboult have shown improvement.
If we trade / draft right this year, we can make big strides forward next year.

From the post match interview

Malthouse was "pretty confident" that injured pair Andrew Carrazzo (tight quad) and Troy Menzel (shoulder 'stinger') would be "in the mix" for the clash with the Swans.
