This kills me as i thought we were passed this and on the way up, but i totally agree... no point winning anymore this season.
BUT if it comes down to Essendon* beating us to make finals, we know what to do :)

Wining a few games at the end of the season is pointless and futile, 2014is over.
Let s plan our trading and drafting, we need it finish bottom three.
Any of Wright, McCartin or Durdin would be a great outcome as ridiculous as it sounds.
Let's be realists we desperately need a quality talls.
Ciao

I stay out of the quality mid v tall debate as it's obvious we need both. I find it strange that people push one barrow over the other.

WB have a great midfield, but poor KPP's. West Coast have strong KPP's but a weak midfield. Hence neither in the short term will be challenging.

We cant do a 2010 an decide that THIS draft will be our KPP draft. Our list wont be fixed via one draft. Keep picking best available that fills list holes. Dont reach for any particular kind of player.

Also who we focus on as trade targets must be balanced with what type of players we are looking at to draft. Don't just grab someone "because he's there", creating an unbalanced list like we seem to have done in the past.

As poor as Carrazzo, Mclean, Armfield, Waite to name a few have been over the past few weeks, it's of little concern due to the fact that none are going to take as forward from 2015 and beyond and are all 27+. I'd be more worried if it was these guys who were still in our top echelon of players.

When you add that group to Duigan, Scotland and possibly Judd missing next year it will result in a much younger list and will hopefully be ground zero/rock bottom and the start of what needs to be a proper long term/planned/strategic rebuild.

Anyway sorry - wrong thread.....

Out: Carrots, Mclean, Robbo (susp), etc, etc.
In: Graham, someone else, is Bell back yet?, er.....

Quality midfielders who don't employ a sand wedge every time they kick a ball will make even an ordinary forwards job much much easier.

Is it any wonder Eddie Betts is killing it at Centre Half Forward for the Crows, he thinks it's Christmas getting the ball kicked out in front of him instead of on the top of his head.

..it's about timing, it's about getting as much of your squad hitting their good years as a collective.. ..if you go mids before talls, you're midfield peaks too early.. ..talls take four to five years to really get going, it will take us a long time to build a list we need so much talent, so we need to think longterm.. ..mids are cheaper on the market, either trade or free agency.. ..don't reach at the draft, I agree.. ..but where we are now, if there is a comparable quality between a Kopp and a mid, go the tall.. ..and focus on talls and prime mids, forget the utilities, the flankers, the 1 position specials..

Just hypothesising, but if we lose to the aints I think we may have the spoon in our sights?!
This is the only ‘winnable’ game for the rest of the year. The aints MAY (big if I know) be in with a chance against the dogs. On their day you never know. That would give them 5 wins for the year. We’d stay on 4 wins. The rest will continue to go past us without a doubt.

Doomsday scenario I know but could it be possible???

Good selection choices, as it gives Carlton a bit of forward line presence.

I would have gone with:

in: Mark Athorn, Brock McLean, Cameron Cloke (he has a Collingwood surname...so it surely would work)
out: Karl Norman, Jarrad Waite, Jim Plunkett

history repeats itself, add and rinse 3 times. Looking forward to GWS's and Gold Coast's rise as it is "good for the game".

I just wish the AFL had used some vision and put this game at 7.30 on a Sunday night as well. Footy is so exciting at the moment.
