he was a terrible administrator and never forget he was also part of the board under elliot...and everybody else...
nobody has had a bigger hand in where were at today except sticks

and cecil... are u serious?
sticks went to pratt???

ive got a bridge to sell u.
...

You can keep your bridge... I never said sticks went to Pratt..

In terms of Sticks having the biggest hand in where we are today. I feel we are better off today than we were 10 years ago.

Greater football department spending, upgraded facilities, stronger financially with a greater revenue stream, IMO we have a quality coach in place. We're stronger in many areas now. I don't know the direct links to what Sticks has and hasn't done, but as the president that has overseen all of that he deserves some credit (just the same as he deserves criticism for mistakes)

every team has those things and has improved in those areas.
which club is spending less today than they were ten years ago?
which club doesnt have new favilities?
stronger revenue stream but the debt is the same.. and the revenue stream has nothing to do with sticks..
on the other hand the club has less hope today than it did ten years ago... people ten years ago believed we would be back
the picks
the culture of winning flags was not a distant memory

all gone out the door

on top of that.... we have our club in a greater disconnect with supporters than we ever had before.

so not sure what youre basing all this on....

unless u think were a club thats now safe and is in a situation where the flag is just around the corner and the debt is under control.

Mediocre club.... nobody talks about us unless theyre taking the mickey.
Nobody fears us,,,

You obviously feel otherwise....

Key difference between Sticks and Hird;

Sticks loves CFC for the club. He has faults and limitations, was too passive etc. However I don't think anyone would doubt he was in his role for any other reason that he was helping. He does, indeed, bleed blue.

Hird loves EFC* because he views it as a vehicle to his own enrichment, both ego and financial.

Yes, don't dispute this difference, but the mentality in the club of not questioning a club great is what I was talking about, not the personalities of the specific men involved.

If Carlton is to improve, questions must be allowed to be asked without fear or favour.

If we were a suburban football club Sticks would have been the perfect president.

Come to think of it, he just about retires from his post leaving us at a suburban football club level.

Proportionally our football department spending has increased by more than most other clubs. The club also has an ability to pay back debts now, something we couldn't do as easily before.

The club has had a disconnect from the fans for a long time, but for the first time in a long time I feel as though they actually recognise it. Social media is much improved in the last 12 months and fan engagement appears to be a focus area.

I haven't given up hope. I feel the changes we are seeing right now are the next step towards becoming powerful once more. I thank Sticks for the stability of the last few years and I'm exited about the improvements that will be made under a new president / CEO combo.

A very deft little side step around Godwin's Law...... if I may say so myself.
