As much as I'm a critic of our recruiting and have wanted an entire overall over the past decade this is not the way to handle things.

Just shows we are a rabble and that things are very unhappy at Princes Park. Sounds like an absolute mess. :cry:

Wasn't hughes the problem, not rogers? I dare say Rogers would be better than casper the ghost manning the recruiting department.

Be great if we could unearth the next big recruiting talent through a researched process, rather than feel the need to poach the person already doing it at the top his game for another club.

The more things change, the more they're the same huh?

Problem with Hughes and Rogers is they have been a backside and a pair of undies for a very long time
Stretches back to their days in Freo together... when their days at Freo together meant they were like we are today.
I dont believe you can have 2 guys doing the same thing together for over a decade and they havent influenced each others thinking.

The club needs a clean break... and like u say a well researched process to find the next rock star of recruitment and support him by having an infrustructure.
what we have right now is pretty piss poor

Ah ... i forgot about Hughes and Rogers at Freo. Jeez freo was bad back then. haha.

I wasn't meaning don't get rid of rogers ... just four months out from the 2014 draft, at least have a list or an inkling as to who you might replace him with.

Sniff around the football departments of other successful clubs/ programs and and have a chat to a few 2IC's ... see if their philosphy is something we want to buy into, or something we need.

This is laughable, typical Carlton. Pick a messiah and everything will be alright. It's a joke. yes the recruiting hasn't ben great, why? Have we assessed our recruiting forensically. Have we looked at our recruiting infrastructure compared to other clubs, how many and who do we have working for us, how are decisions made, how is recruiting managed. One person isn't going to solve recruiting, it is how the dept is structured and run. i am sick of the Mathieson's and the pratts blundering around making knee jerk decisions at a whim just because they are rich. for heaven's sake, isn't there 6 talented, intelligent, connected people who can get a ticket together. We are a joke.

I would expect that the Manager of Recruitment has developed such infrastructure based on his recruitment plan and strategy. The head of this department should be responsible for this. If the head of recruiting asked for extra funds so he could develop his dream team and was then knocked back and is the reason why this department continues to fail then the problem lies with the CEO.
