Regardless of who this guy is and if he provoked him or not............. this is still pretty serious!

Simon will need to be punished regardless.

Agreed, but the "victim" appears to be less than reliable.

Yeah I'm starting to think he is in fact a Carlton supporter. Chips are stacked against Simon White here, rightfully so.

So two blokes had a bit of biffo outside a nightclub ...

Why this is even news bothers me. Too bad Simon your a footballer and it comes with the territory, hopefully behind closed doors the club blows it off as the non issue it really is.

Having worked in the industry as a "door man" all over Melbourne I can say a bit of biffo outside a nightclub is not 6pm news worthy. Its is because its a football player its making news, and that to me is pathetic. Yes we all know a punch can kill, and yes today's youth do have problems with alcohol fueled violence. Just as they did 10 years ago, 20 years ago and so on. I'm 45 now and its nothing new, and definitely not news worthy.

If the guy was in hospital it would be a different story. Running off to the Hun doesn't make him look credible.

Sounds like Simon needs to organise a sit down with this guy to apologise, work things out....and then belt him again

Nor does having his solicitor dad label it a coward punch.

..it's not about it being news worthy, it's about being blasé regarding fisticuffs.. ..as for it happening over the years.. ..it wasn't ok then, it's not ok now.. ..and the more this kind of thing does make the news, the better..

If he was only "verbally abused", he's in trouble.

This type of behavior is unacceptable from any member of society and especially professional sportsmen or women.
The AFL and affiliated clubs have to clean up their act in this regards and no more turning the other way, send a very clear & strong message fisticuffs , drugs and alcohol abuse are a no go. Let's not be so parochial, those days should be truly over.
Cost to society and related families is enormous.
Unfortunately it effects one of ours this time but let's set a standard and build a positive team culture.
Ciao

First make sure your bogan players get in trouble after hours.

then you get the flags.

What's the standard punishment these days for fighting?

Suspended for 2 weeks?
Little bit of extra community service?

Maybe his suspension will coincide with the Geelong/Hawthorn games ......
