I will never understand why malthouse didn't start Menzel and play walker forward.
Once they double teamed Henderson, we had no one to kick to.

McLean disposal is woeful. I feel like I am watching barry Armstrong.
Trade casboult while he has value. Can not build a side around some one who can not dispose of the ball.
Number 4 was asleep on the job
Daisy made collingwood feel they won the trade. We have 4 years with a player who can't kick 40 meters
Warnock, buckley and white get a tick

First time in ages, years even that the midfield worked as a unit in that opening quarter - they blocked for him, they harassed Macaffer, they made sure to take a hit in the tackle to make sure they used the ball as well as they could and gave Murphy a free run at the ball.

Most of these passages of play were met with panicky hospital handballs or rushed kicks to avoid taking a hit himself.

Selfish player who is caught up in their own hype.

One of our best i thought. Always running, presenting and trying. Unfortunately there was no system out there and his usual attacking nature always put him in positions where he was forced to rush and noone presenting. Going after him doesnt seem right.
Thomo, Garlett, Gibbs and lucas were virtually invisable. Throw in Casboults present adding more to score against than score for and we were always going to be up against it.

The only hype about Murphy seems to be people hyping up how shit he is. Maybe he is starting to believe that a little. Id love to see his gps results after a game. Doesnt stop running.

Imagine Gibbs or Thomo with a tagger for the night. They would be worse than tonight if possible.

I'd be more interested in his heat pattern across the ground. Very rarely did you see him in the back half of the ground giving the backline a chop out. Certainly not enough for the amount of times Macaffer made him look stupid on the rebound.

Geez we were are flattered by that final scoreline. As one sided as I've seen a game for a while.

We just couldn't handle their defensive pressure. Got squeezed relentlessly. Didn't look like scoring for a large part of the match.

Only positives for me were young Dylan for his heart and dash, Levi's marking around the ground, and Simmo for being Simmo as usual.

Shit night, left half way through the last.

Would have been tight without the 4 umpire goals in the end... Somehow

Gibbs, Garlett, Lucas horrible. Thomas tries hard but looks slow, frail and can't kick over a jam tin, where's the Thomas of 2010/11. Warnock wins lots of taps but we were smashed around the ball ups/ins, and when did he last take a mark? If we don't get any benefit from his taps he doesn't give us much. mcLean is honest, but a battler. He gets lots of the ball but he doesn't carry it, and doesn't hurt the oppo. We miss Betts.

White was good, Casboult has great hands, can kick except at goal.Bucks has class and is heart and soul. Just watching Mick excuse himself of any responsibility and bite the heads off journos who ask any question that might be critical of the great man.
The Pies had loads of young players but are miles ahead of us.

Surprising benign weather at the G - and after a good first 5 minutes a very painful evening watching.

Heard some interesting comments from Parkin on the way home:

1) Our list is not up for it and 2-5 is about the level.
2) We do not have any A graders coming through with one or two exceptions who are more potential B graders players (Buckley / Menzel).
3) Need to go into rebuild mode ASAP. Play kids and trade aggressive for picks and cut very deep in the list among the many players who never will play in a premiership team: Rowe, Ellard, Lucas were some of the names he mentioned - even Curnow not premiership material according to him.

Did not hold back and said he was a bit sad and now feared he still would be the last Carlton premiership coach when he dies.

Wonder why we don't try Levi as a defender, as he's a great mark, can spoil, and can kick except through the goals.

Hard night at the office for all concerned.

I've not lost hope losing to Collingwood with a good 3rd of our side injured. It was to be expected we'd struggle to stay in the game.

Dug deep in the last quarter to gain some respectability on the scoreboard, which at least saves us from a humiliating 80+ point belting.

Can you imagine the nightmare rotations would have been tonight? We SO desperately needed our better players for this game.

Would have loved to have seen both sides at full strength tonight, would have given us a real good look at how we are traveling compared to Collingwood.

Didn't blow out to a 80+ point thumping, so as horrible as the loss is, I'm at least pleased we didn't crumble into a heap like the Essendon***** game.

Not an unfair point to make but good sides have a structure which enables them to be successful with replacements. Ours was all over the place. Players were deer in headlights when moving forward as they weren't sure what to do.

Hesitate, tackled, turnover, goal.

Who is responsible for that at the club?

There are Malthouse defenders and haters on this site. I am neither but I do accept that he has not been at his best since being here. Also accept that the appointment of Wiley was probably a mistake and more about a confident for Mick than a coach with value. The appointment of Laidley should have off-set this.

Players can't escape the bake for lack of commitment though. At times they were really trying tonight (without results) but the lack of tackling pressure was not good enough. We cannot sustain effort. I hate to say it but we look unfit.

MM is past it, simple as that, it will take another 35 games for us to realise what a mistake we made again. Menzel the sub, great reward for last weeks heroics. Recruitment of Daisy, another masterstroke. He makes no moves when the game is slipping away. How Collingwoods most inexperienced backline of the year controls the game is a joke. Rowe is not a backman, Lucas has had too many chances, the players have lost thier flair and we let the heart and soul of our club in Eddie go. Henderson to the backline where he can read and control the play would have been a move he could have made. Potatoe Rowe could have at least made a contest in the forward line where his mistakes would not have been as costly. I give up, injuries were no excuses considering Collingwood had enough of their own.

Is it just me or does Daisy look invisible in a Carlton jumper? I find it hard to spot him. He doesn't look or move anything like the cocky self assured player he was in the black and white. If there is not something seriously wrong with that ankle I'd be surprised. He just can't kick anymore.

Seemed to try throwing it around in the back line with handballs a la Geelong
DID NOT WORK
Thats where we miss Yarran breaking the lines
Our disposal in the back half to get it to the back of the square was woeful
Cold never re-set and push forward
Hendo a bad night, but possibly a free or two to him were missed and they swept it away
Jeffy had no influence
Thought Docherty was a plus
Walker a BIG negative, turnover KING

There's a fine line between unfit, and simply coming up against a team in good form who's got your list covered, and some ...

From my humble observations one of the biggest killers in football is watching the ball go forward for no result, but worse, watching it come back and ending in a scoring opportunity. This kills teams when it happens enough during a game. That's what I witnessed tonight. We went forward, again and again to Henderson who was double played, and the ball would come right back and Collingwood would score.

It doesn't take much of this to happen and all of a sudden your looking very "unfit" as the opposition keep running the ball forward all the while gaining momentum and confidence. Before you know it, your team looks like they are shot and have no run, but its got nothing to do with fitness. Well, not in the physical sense.

Forum wants hendo forward. Rowe has to play back. Granted he isn't a finals standard backman but he tries his guts out and has been passable over the last two weeks. We don't have anyone better

heard what parkin said as well on the radio
pretty much said we need to play the kids and turn over the list aggressively
players like bell, Scotland, mclean, cacchia, bootsma, lucas, rowe, casboult , armfield , ellard even Curnow and anyone that wont be in a premiership side need to go and keep churning through it till u get the right mix
