Technically we don't have one. McKay is GM – Football Operations....it's written into his PD. If he gets hit by a bus tomorrow - it becomes Greg Swann's job. Not ideal...but we've become accustomed to 'not ideal' at Carlton.

We have a List Management Committee that comprises McKay, Swann, Rogers and Malthouse. That's our list management team.

Takes up all facets of List Management but could be too many cooks.
You'd think that they all have different roles within that group.

A CEO and Head Recruiter have no business being involved in List Management.

Nice to see a few of the better informed posters starting to question Swann's role...................dont wanna say i told you so.But from the day this guy walked in the door his conditions of employment was absurd beyond belief.Having a CEO heavily involved in the footy department is a recipe for disaster at any level............Front of house and the backroom dont mix.No iffs,no butts. While Swann is meddling in the backroom we will go nowhere...........................Swann is only an average CEO at best and he actually wants to run the footy team.Laughable...........but im not laughing coz this guy has got the wool pulled over the eyes that people that count.

Granted that there may be queries over his involvement but I wouldn't see him as anything more than a deal-negotiator/closer.
The guy hardly even knows details of the players at the club.

Mick would lay out his wants/needs.

Rogers' input would be on players recruited in his tenure as Recruiter / Head Recruiter.
It would be prudent to discuss players targeted with the individual that had been directly tracking them for a number of years. i.e. Docherty, Tomlinson, Patton etc etc as some of these guys really haven't had much output in the two years they may have been at another club.

McKay is the one that would deal largely with players currently on the list whilst juggling numbers to keep everything in order. He's not a talent spotter.

Swann? The king-pin? Maybe just likes the long lunches chewing the fat with other CEO's. I don't know. Maybe he has some sort of yin and yang (Good guy/Bad guy) thing happening with Mckay.

Looks a bit unbalanced as a group but if it starts to work drag in the janitor if that's of any value.

He was probably pretty jaded with the whole system at that stage, I'm guessing

Times change.

SOS' boys are each keen footy players - their parents are keen for them to continue beyond junior footy - which if any make it to AFL standard is the only question.

Great player. I was there for the Starkevich (Sp) mark. Great mark. Shit result. After the game we were being absolutely caned by the Cillingwood faithful. I said to a mate of mine in the hearing of a group of them, "when a boy asks his dad how it feels to win a flag, his dad has to say, 'I don't know, son. Ask your grandfather.'" They had the good wit to laugh at that at least.

SOS would be a good get for the club I'd like him on the board. He's been to several other clubs and he's an astute young man with his feet on the ground. We can't afford to have him at GWS when Jack is eligible. We don't need the waters muddied. There should be no question of where he plays (or the rest of them for that matter) if they're good enough. Is it next year? I thought he was the same age as Jack Sheahan, a mate's son who turned 17 last year.

Jack is 16. He turns 17 in December. Players must be at least 18 years of age on 31 December in the year in which they are drafted. Therefore he's eligible for next years' draft. Ben played Under 13's last year....so there's 5 or so years to wait yet.

ImageBen Silvagni - Runner Up Best & Fairest

'Ben Silvagni has frustrated the opposition and delighted his team-mates this season with dominant marking around the ground and relentless desire to win the ball. Aside from a few weeks late in the season where he missed games due to injury, Ben featured regularly in the best players on the ground. Ben's versatility and passion to compete makes him a valuable asset to his team and a very handy 'swing-man' for his coaches. In what was a very challenging season for the 13s, Ben became incredibly important as a player we could rely on down back, up forward and through the middle of the ground. He competed fiercely in the ruck and although often outsized by taller opponents, Ben could still dominate the hit-out to our advantage. Ben was also nominated by his peers to form part of the group's leadership team, a role that he fulfilled admirably and an honour that he can be most proud of. His talent and work ethic combines to make him an exciting player to watch and an enjoyable player to coach but it's his honesty, passion and sportsmanship qualities that will propel his endeavours to an elite level in time to come.'
