Weren't Rowe & Buckley picked when Hughes was still head of recruiting but everyone else you named picked when Rogers was in charge?

My apologies for giving Wayne Hughes too much credit.

Don't want Rogers being blamed for Rowe or Buckley. So far (and I know it's off limited data etc) he hasn't done too bad a job. You can definitely see a change in attack/attitude between 2011 draft and 2012 & 2013 drafts.

The fact we have hardly any Hughes selected 2nd and 3rd round draft selections on our list, is one of the main reasons it was well past time for him to go.

Only Armfield and Robinson from a period of 2004 to 2010 is a flowering disgrace, there another 14 players (2nd and 3rd rounders) who should now be forming the core of our list who just are not there and Wayne Hughes has to take the lion share of that responsibilty.

Carlton traded second round pick picks in the 2007, 2008, 2009 drafts. And third round picks in the 2007 and 2010 drafts. You never let the facts get in the way of your beliefs. Other recruiters with great reputations have picked the equivalent of Hartlett, Austin, Bower and Davies. Though that's ignored to support your argument.

Hampson, Jacobs and Grigg left due to Kreuzer, Warnock and the latter being a princess.

Would Hughes have done a terrible job if he had been part of Wells' or Hine's team?

i doubt it. Yet Luke Williams will still be talked up like he's the next gun recruiter or the best 2IC to work under Rogers. Pies, Cats, Sydney, Hawthorn, etc. had a stronger coach, footy department, admin, etc. with more resources than Hughes had between 2004 and 2008.

I believe that makes my argument - but never let your stalking get in the way of supporting yours.

Getting the 2nd and 3rd round picks right, can define your list

Your rookie list and thinking outside the square is where a club can make serious in roads in list quality.

Blues have performed below par in these areas over that decade. There are only a few exceptions, such as Simpson, fev, betts, jamison

To be perfectly honest, you're taking up the easiest of easy arguments that is not only popular and hard to argue with given the recruiting of late, but also quite an easy one to take given your reluctance to put your hat in the ring, and somehow, all you're doing is making it very hard to get behind you.

Quite frankly, he's making you look silly because he knows you have to make it personal at every opportunity. It's now gone well beyond "I'm a passionate Carlton supporter and I want to see it done right" and into "I have a personal vendetta and Ill be damned if I pass up an opportunity to tell everyone how shit Cazzesman is and won't rest until he's fired from a volunteer position". For someone who's had the industry experience that you have - leave that shit to Blackwell.

You taking up a position of authority when telling the casual viewers of the site what "really" happened with Hughes/the ex-Geelong recruiter/Ratten etc, when its either an educated guess or third hand info from the well connected posters on here isn't doing your argument much chop either.

Rhino, on several levels you're correct. I have re read through my comments and on a number of ocassions they are totally out of line. Actually embarrassing. I have used this forum as an avenue to vent my frustration and have gone way too far.

Although I stand by my beliefs on our recruiting I have allowed it to become personal and vindictive. That is wrong!

So, given that I will use this forum to publicly apologise to Cazzesmen and his family and anyone who may of been offended by my comments.

Also, as such I think it's time for a short break to refresh and refocus on things more important.

Go Blues!

Apology wasn't necessary but thank you anyway. I have a thick skin, otherwise I wouldn't come on TC.

Regards Cazzesman

As in David's son?

interesting - I hadn't heard that.

Yes.

His knowledge of any boy in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne with a hint of potential is amazing!

My limited exposure to him is that he is outstanding(and a Blues supporter!)

Well done.
You're not on your Pat Malone there. We've all felt some form of frustration over the years and many of us have overstepped the mark.
A very admirable post.

Lovely bloke Parko but as a regional manager, he's renowned for being very difficult to deal with. Communication with clubs within his region has been poor and for whatever reason, a siege mentality seems to exists at the Ranges. The difference between the Ranges and the Knights is chalk and cheese.
