Whatever the ladder says, we were rubbish last season.
But let these fans have their harmless fantasies.
As long as the people that matter are honest.

We were rubbish. I agree.
Just don't bring the ladder into it.

But our blokes are untouchable
Kidding ourselves

We should be trying to build a culture that is untouchable.
No individual player should be singled out above the team.

You could argue that the untouchables should be the players who bleed for the team, and step up in the clutch and show leadership when its desperately needed.
(I don't want to use the word 'courage' because that has immediate connotation with the Bombers)
Although Josh Kennedy was the exception to that rule, and most agree we came out on top with that trade overall.

It's all about communication - the head coach and list manager need to let the players know that their contributions are valued, without giving them a big head by labelling them "untouchable". It's a tricky balancing act.

I notice that the vernacular that seems pretty universal these days is "required player"..... which doesn't seem to have quite the absolutism of 'untouchable'.
I think I prefer that

Didn't they call for nominations for new moderators earlier in the year / late last year ?
