Back on to the important stuff - I've always wondered why the outside posts are shorter than the inside ones. There was a case a few years back, can't remember the teams, where a dodgy point or out on the full was called in a game decided by a point. Surely having all 4 posts the same (taller) height would help in this situation?

Agree.

My 2 cents...

Thought the #believe initiative was great.

Could easily revive it for our 2014 finals campaign.

I don't know if it would help but if the purpose of a lot of training is to re-create game day conditions then those posts should be identical to the match day posts.

I concur. It's a valid point. I'll make a note of it. Will make for a good ice-breaker when I chat to the President.

While you're at it, ask him to put then six inches closer together. That way on match day they'll be further apart and we shouldn't miss so many!

Good news! The goal posts will be changed this summer to be AFL regulation height! Trublu and I will be taking the credit for any improvement in goal kicking in 2014 ;)

Look forward to you and Trublu taking Levi for extended goal kicking practice after training then.

Surely not! The goal posts will be converted into point posts and new goal posts are on their way.

Good logical thinking folks! Like the story of NASA spending millions on developing a pen that works in zero gravity when the Russians just took pencils.

Cosmonauts ended up with graphite dust in their eyes though.

Yeah, fun story but they both have been using pens for a while now.

I've offered wondered if the reasons for our poor accuracy in front of goal was dude to the height difference of the goal posts at Visy Park compared to the goal posts at every AFL ground.

The goal posts at Visy Park are the original height they were before the AFL introduced much higher goal posts to help goal umpires with their decision making.

Time for a bump, I noticed this when I was at the ground last weekend. The posts aren't even close to the same height as they are at Etihad, for example.

Our goal kicking let us down a few times in R1 and while all teams can be afflicted by inaccurate kicking it seems to be an ongoing issue for us and it would be great if we were able to make some inroads into improving our goal kicking across the entire list.

As noted, this hasn't happened yet, the posts are still too small. What's the go?

Martin Shannon had it on his 'to do' list. I've a meeting there on Tuesday morning so I'll find out.

The posts are still on the agenda, but were put on the back-burner due to the initial cost which were considerably more than first thought. Will still be done - but there's a few things which rightly took precedence.

Thanks for following up.

Although, once again, it seems to be another example where the basic fundamental requirement to kick accurately for goals is treated as a secondary issue.

Not just by us, but all clubs.

I can see where you're coming from but the bigger issue with me rather than the delay is not recognizing this in the first place. But it's not too far away. Things do take a long time down there and it's very frustrating - but it's just the way it is at the moment. It's not the only project that has taken too long to complete.
