Maybe the fact that haven't been running out games is more about their overall attitude than fitness?

They ran out games against us, Geelong, Sydney and Collingwood just fine. Other games they looked like they couldn't give a stuff ie Port, Gold Coast, GWS.

What i am saying is i dont believe Collingwood were the fittest club ever..!!!.. because of this guy.. there are other clubs just as fit and as well or better conditioned!!!

The game has changed!!!.. the dynamic has changed.. the culture has changed there too...!!
Theyre going a new direction... new footy manager.. new condition people.. new players..!!!
This season has not been acceptable..

maybe they need a new coach...!!!

fact is... they dont believe this guy is the future!!!....they might be wrong or they might be right...!!!

But theyre not stealing everyone from Geelong....and hoping to become Geelong

He obviousy didnt fit their new culture change... but if we bring everyone from Collingwood to Carlton circa 2008 does that mean he fits ours????

M?icks already found out our club culture and list are unusual...to what he is used to...
Are we trying to make things more 2008 familiar???

And again what process did we use to make sure hes the best out there???

Better than the Melbourne slops we were getting.

Must say though that I am a little surprised we haven't looked outside the AFL bubble.

NHL is where I would look in the future.

I can't think of another game that has a similar requirement of elite endurance and strength.

Hockey players don't have elite endurance. They're constantly on and off with TOI (Time on Ice) averages being about 22 minutes per game. It's a completely different game from a fitness requirement. There's really no need to look outside Australia.

Yes, they are constantly on and off, but our game is like that too, but now restricted (to an extent ) with regard to rotations.

I don't think its as different as you make it out to be. I would venture to say that VO2 max scores for NHL players would be pretty bloody high.

They've taken from us Lappin, Harvey, Russell and now maybe Cordy.

Swann, MM, Brown, Thomas, Buttifant.....

At least the slops we're taking have been successful.

Remember the poaching war between Richmond and Collingwood in the 80s.
In the end they both died!!!

Footy is about being innovative...

So this is the same fitness guy that worked at Collingwood during how many Grand Finals..... 4 was it. And people are questioning him. Mick Malthouse got kicked out when he'd opened the window and people say he's past it :screwy:. Looks the Kool Aid at Bombre* Blitz has been doing the rounds at TC.

Mick knows this man and knows what he wants and knows what he can give.

The same way he'd want Daisy because he understands the player.

Buckley takes over a Premiership challenging side and look what happens.
He's a f;&&ing hak! If he was the genius behind the success at Collingwood then why do they now stink.

We just beat Richmond who received 5 of the softest goals I've ever seen in a final! Can we just be happy.

I'm so sick of these arm chair experts who don't $h!t from clay.
Mick has proven track record same as Buufiant. As far as I can tell no one on TC has brought a team to a Premiership.

So everybody just STFU and be happy.
We've gone as far as Ratten has in Micks first year unless you want get anal over 'a kick from a prelim'.

A loss is a f$&@ing loss no matter how close.

:hitcomputer: End of rant.

we get him... and they will get someone else we want in 3 years time.....

after all... hes been there 13 years.. and everyones happy for him to move on...
sounds like old technology to me....

there are always people pushing through...

but yes i know.. he is leaving collingwood to come to the professional organisation that is carlton..
we can go to arizona .. etc....

there are no other methods except OLD collingwood methods in existence...

Maybe, but in the absence of an innovative, gun Footy Ops manager / CEO, a great coach is our de facto Head of Football. Not ideal, and hopefully fixed soon, but could be in worse hands. Collingwood have been a very well run and resourced club for a long time, and on the face of it, bringing in some of their key people is a good way to bring in professional best-practise performers.

The fact is we seem to have relatively poor leaders at the club bar Malthouse, so authority accrues to him. We're building this club from the footy department up, instead of from the Board / CEO down. Not ideal, but it's better than nothing. Hopefully quality attracts quality, and we can backfill as we go.

Synbad you are so rusted on with your views....... You are making a rod for your own back old boy. You are desperately trying to make every but of news ,rumour innuendo, fit your own agenda. Its blindingly obvious and quite frankly tiresome. Try being constructive for once.

Very happy to have Buttifant at the club. Sick of players who look like they would blow away in a slight wind gust.

Been saying it for years. We are physically too small.

Like to see some size on our players ala the Collingwood, Geelong & Swans boys.

Can someone in the know explain to me why we shouldn't get Buttifant, for reasons that aren't:
1) He's from Collingwood
2) If he really was that good, they wouldn't let him leave

?

I know MM wanted a shake up of our footy dept and wanted money spent in certain areas. He beieved wie were a shambles...
The problem is he is going for whats comfortable in his mind but the world is always dynamic.. and Port went and got a guy who was there then went to the EPL and came back and then did wonders with their blokes.
Why?
Cos their president is looking to be cutting edge.
Can Buttifant introduce things to us we have never done before? YES!!! resounding YES!!!
Can he introduce something Collingwood have never done before??? Doubt it!!!

In a game of inches.. where every little advantage is paramount.. we are not going to be doing anything different to what s happened before in the AFL

I believe you need that leg up...
