please give Laidler a go, mickey mouse's treatment of him has been disgraceful

He's out injured and didn't even play on the weekend. No chance of seeing him in the seniors any time soon.

yeah but still, play him

Didn't stop us last year

Perhaps we should be questioning our treatment of him last year.

Our biggest issue at the moment is I feel we don't have enough players capable of rotating through the midfield. Our forward line needs more players who can impact through the guts and for this reason Betts and Garlett must be culled.

Also Playing someone like Gibbs in deference not only hurts us offensively, but also defensively as all he does is stop his man. Our best team defense was when laidler and Duigan were up and running, and for this reason they should be given another crack.

The Yarran and Walker swap still has me scratching my head as we have robbed ourselves of a great goal scoring avenue in walker who offers something similar in defense as what Yarran was offering in the first place. Swap them back and lets run Yarran into some form.

Warnock is BY FAR our best ruckman and should be played there. Kreuzer's main strengths I believe are at ground level so should be given a crack at playing a center mans roll.

FB: duigan jamison laidler
CHB: simpson waite yarran
C: touhy kreuzer murphy
CHF: judd henderson bell
FF: buckley watson walker

1R: Warnock gibbs graham

This crap I keep reading that Mick hasn't given youth a go and he should play Duigan, Laidler , Joseph is delusional.
Those three are not the future. Too slow. Laidler has been done by injury.
MM has played everyone and there are only 3 players he hasn't given a real go to: Graham, Buckley & Bell.
All the rest have had around 4 weeks of football
Graham has been available for a month
Buckley yes but isn't physically there yet (I would still give him a few)
Bell is a mistake and should be played. Is his defensive running afl standard? Can he follow a gameplan?
Seriously, these selections are not the difference between beating Fremantle and Swans.

After reading grunt match report and seeing Warnock, Bootsma & Graham all being rested for majority of the last qtr on Sunday I can't help but think Mick plans on the 3 playing Seniors this weekend. No complaints here.

In: Warnock, Bootsma & Graham
Out: Rowe, Carazzo & one of Betts or Yarran.

If Betts is omitted they'll prob play Roughead fwd I reckon.
Lucas or Robbo sub. Not Graham, let him loose.
Cachia to Griffen
Curnow to Dahlhaus
Gibbs either mid or fwd.

McInnes, Laidler & Waite all injured still yeah and Duigan has another weeks suspension to serve so these names don't need to be considered.

One week tooooo late for Warnock. But why wouldn't that surprise me.
Well atleast he's thinking of bringing him in and pushing Kruezer forward, well maybe, well we hope, well who the flower knows what he's thinking.

From MM

No doubt you will be sharing our feeling of immense disappointment from the result on the weekend.

It's hard to front up on Mondays when these things take place, because we went in with great ambition of winning the game.

We understood the potential of the opposition. The Dockers are a very good football side, and have been developing their list for some years now. We knew it would be a tough and close fight.

For two and a bit quarters, I thought we hung in there. Unfortunately, without pointing the finger at any particular player, we let ourselves down.

I don't think the forward line took enough opportunities to kick for goal, our midfielders were reactionary, and our back line was under enormous pressure.

Our reserves side also suffered a loss, going down to Frankston. Again, we were found wanting in and around where the ball is most sought – and that's the midfield.

There will be changes this week. We have a couple of injuries and a few players out of form, so clearly we will look at replacements.

But we're not going to knee-jerk react on this. Our finals aspirations are not diminished. We are unfortunately in the hands of others. But when you are put in the hands of others, you have still got a responsibility to your own supporters to make sure that you win games.

Our focus now turns to the Western Bulldogs, who are a massive possession getting side. They've managed almost 400 possessions in the past four weeks alone. They are also a very good scoring side, scoring nearly 94 points per game, over the past four games.

We know to take on a top side is hard enough, but the Bulldogs are on the up and we have to be on our game.

As long as I am coach, we'll be playing on a week-to-week basis. We will be playing for pride, and for an opportunity to win another game of football, to put us in a position to front the next three games after that.

It's so important that we don't lose our concentration, or lose our heart.

We have been pretty good over the last month. It's a matter of taking stock and going forward. New and fresh faces will come into the side, and we expect them to take over the mantle of those who are out injured, and perhaps give us some valued experience and also some enthusiasm.

All is not lost. We are looking forward to your continued support, and all we can say is that we are going to give it our best shot.

Kind regards

Mick Malthouse

How dignified.

Would have thought that bringing Warnock in may have helped last week. Can't say for sure though because I haven't watched the game......and obviously won't.

Will be interesting to see who Mick punishes and who he sets aside this week.

maybe he should look at his own over all decision making before he passes the buck again?

Find it slightly funny that we bitch and moan about there not being enough benefits or value to being a member, and one of the few rare "members only" privileges seems to just get copy/pasted on here every week for everyone else anyway.

Freo had 50 hitouts total to our 39.

Kreuzer had 23 hitouts, but only 1 mark.
Would Warnock have done better? Maybe, he's averaging 31.

We lost clearances: 41 to 35
and inside 50s: 58 to 42

Freo also had 5 hitouts by Mundy, Fyfe, Crowley, Mayne.

To me that suggests that our rucks had a bit of room from improvement,
and Warnock might have done better,
but the performance of our midfield was a bigger problem.

I also noticed that Freo's ball handling looked far slicker than ours,
and Sandilands and Clarke handballed it a lot more than Kreuzer and Rowe,
which might suggest they worked better in tandem with runners coming past.... (?)
