Unlike BR who coached for today only.
First two years, while other clubs were refreshing/bolstering their list, Ratten coached with one game plan and one philosophy...Judd will kick it to Fev and premierships are there for the taking.
Unfortunately, our list is so shithouse, I'm actually happy that MM has more than an 'eye' on the future, even if it means we take some short term hits.
Yes, I too am bemused by some of his selections/non selections/subs this year, but I'll tell you what, I'd back MM's rationale infinitely more than the current mids coach down at Hawthorn. BTW, how did their mids go against our predominantly rookie mids (sans Murphy for half a game) a few weeks back? And all that IP he took with him.
BR deserves no sympathy at all, regardless of what happens with MM. He got to coach the club he played for on the back of coaching Norwood, with a salary cap of $10. And...for 5 years. Robert Walls couldn't get 4 years and took us to two Grand Finals.
Look at Ken Hinkley's apprenticeship and you appreciate how flowering lucky BR was
