apart from our effort, the best aspect of tonight's game was Gibbs. He was superb in the clearances. I have been wanting to say that for 6 years. Hopefully, he can continue as he will need to step up with Judd towards the end of his career.

just glad I didn't break any thing tonight - very good restraint but did "verbalise" at times

Now you know the result I would. Very good game of football.

Yarran is one.. but he was dropped and that dropping gave us a harder edge tonight... and hopefully Yarran will become a better player for it.

Daisy was dropped for 4 weeks by MM and he came back a more commited footballer.

I do believe he didnt drop Lucas but benched him as to not show he was blaming him for last weeks loss.. !!!... it is not true he cost us the game.. its true.. he finds it difficult to stand up in battle. feeble attempts and often falls to ground to be out of the contest

Much more mature.

Lucas isn't the sole problem. He plays his role mainly, but certainly needs to harden up. It's almost like he's too concerned with giving away a free kick. Most of his game is there in my opinion. If he can add some hardness, he could really be a player.

What's better or worse - Mitch's hardness, but lack of skill and running power or Kane's skill and run, but lack of hardness?

Really proud of the effort.
Really encouraging to receive texts from hawks supporters saying we were the better team.
They also mentioned the umpiring and appreciated their support.
Another thing mentioned we have to learn to win and tackle. So true

Bootsma at this stage should not be doing his apprenticeship in the back line where he was monstered
I thought that was a bad move if we were serious about this game.

Just my opinion.....I understand why they're selected but...

Rowe isn't an AFL player
Brock is too slow for finals footy
Kreuzer needs more than 8 possessions
Curnow lacks polish
Casboult needs to get fitter
Bootsma needs a lot of strength conditioning

Hodge belongs in another era. Neanderthal. He goes out to punish and he did illegally.

Garlets game was pathetic. A real comedy.
Cur owns Brocks Bettsys shot at goal dead in front.......not AFL standard or selfish.

We won the game but didn't get the 4 points.

I hope our docs announce a 6 week layoff for Murphy before match review.

just a question DC Blue.. is Lucas someone who stands up in a physical contest?

answer it...!!!

Cachia was wonderful.. yes he stands up.
Henderson had a howler with his kicking.
Jeffy is back to old habits... MM should ick the ball to him before games.
Didnt like Rowe in the side.. too top heavy and theyre getting in each others way...
Juddys back game for the year.
Simmo ditto.

Agree he is suspect to the physical stuff but i don't think that was a serious issue tonight. Thought he did well playing to his strengths and certainly made a positive contribution.

As for your assessments on judd, Cachia and Simmo wrapped with their game.. Cachia especially is just consistently under and his decision making is good under pressure.

Still not happy.

When will we be man enough to win a contest like this?

Even Richmond have beaten Hawthorn!

I actually thought (now that I have almost calmed down) that with fair umpiring we would have won this. eddie's snap when he should have handballed, and curnows miss could have still won it.

so I thought we did well tonight and showed enough to think we are on the right track.

even rowe and lucas were ok.

but can someone tell my why Mitchell wasn't free-kicked for that one-handed throw? was a free poaid against waite?

The umpire said that Waite infringed first. If your head hadn't been ringing, you'd have heard it.

Mick Malthouse is starting to put his foot down hard. The playing group has had the honeymoon, now it's stand up or gone.

Money well spent.

over and OUT!

havent questioned MM once, whatsoever, until NOW!!!!!!!!!

Yarran dropped for body language - cmon MM it's 2013 - like giving a naughty student the cane, he'll learn NOTHING!!!!!!!

Laidler Duigs - been in best last 3 or 4 weeks in the Northern's, but Bootsma, Cachia, Rowe, Curnow are regulars......???????????????

Menzel & Buckley??????????? - Teased with a couple of quarters each (menzel v GWS doesnt count) showed some serious magic then dropped hard.

Hampson - MUST PERSIST - rucks/talls ALWAYS take YEARS to emerge - Hammer will be a gun in 2-3 (and god will it hurt when he smashes us while playing for Collingwood or Bummers)

Waites body language!! - if Yarran's body language says 'shit' then Waites has been saying 'get [REDACTED] cauliflower' for years..............
(dont see him getting dropped)

And FFS when will you even @#$%&! TRY Hendo up fwd for more THAN A PISSWEAK 45 minutes of footy????????????

Can anyone in our side kick over 50m with a set shot kicking for goal?

Touhy - loving his progress - but he's gotta realise when you turn to see who's on your tail or next to you - then you're gonna get pressure - have a bloody shot from 60 and leave someone 6ft 3 plus in the square ALWAYS.....

and where's the brilliant drop-of-the-pack front and centre crumbing mosquito goals that were coming thick & fast in the first 8 rounds??????

well MM??????? where are they??????
seems youve changed things up a bit and we're just not using that as a means to goal anymore...........

literally cant put myself through this every week

i reckon my devotion and passion and interest took a 25% reductive hit tonight..............

Just home from the game, so disappointing yet again but proud of the effort.
That umpiring in the second half was disgraceful, i hope the club asks the umpiring dept for a please explain. Stats were 15 frees to Hawthorn and 4 to us in the second half.
I am just watching the replay and the goal that Hawthorn got with the goal review was in fact a free to Simpson for over the shoulder/in the back.
Great games by McLean, Simpson, Gibbs and Cachia.
Hope Murphy is okay and not out for too long.
Henderson had a howler.

6 loses this season under 17 points

We are acouple of players away from a good side

Loved Cachia's game & if Levi can get a tank & that overpaid coach Barker can teach him to kick he might become a good AFL footballer

Chamberlain & Nicholls should be sacked
