By the time it clicks I reckon we will be out of the race for the finals. Saying that, I have no issue with this occurring.

No one can expect a coach no matter how good he is, to come in and have instant success when he is completely overhauling the onfield structures. Mick is introducing a complete new game plan and teaching our boys a system they are not familiar with at all. He is also bringing in his own football philosophies especially leadership and ownership which something Brett Ratten could not install within the group.

This year is all about implementing those things.

It is also about Mick finding out who his core players are, what he has at his disposal, what he needs to dispose of and who he can bring or develop in to fill the gaps.

The way Mick works is he says he has his 10 a-graders, 4 b-graders and the rest of the list are what he calls the 'support act'. He will identify which players fit within those 3 categories and develop them to play those defined roles. The support roles are what has made cooling wood look like they have so much depth because they put in so much time developing the support role players and let the senior a-graders virtually coach themselves. That's called ownership.

I expect a major list change come seasons end. Believe it or not, I understand that the club is already chasing a kid from the Gold Coast Suns. The kids manager already knows numbers, BIG numbers. The club wants him. Mick wants him. His manager knows we want him.

Exactly there is no way that either Gold Coast or GWS can hold onto all that talent despite what the AFL want and have tried to engineer. It won't be all one way traffic and we will have "to pay" but I have hoped we will finally learnt our lessons as far as giving away the farm (read Centre Half Forward) is concerned.
