Read Robbo's Tackle in the HUN everything about how Goddard needs to improve apply to Gibbs.

Asked him during live blog, if he agreed, yup need to Bring out beast/klingon? in Gibbs!

I want Ratts to bring Robinson and Gibbs into his room for a quiet chat.

"Gibbsy I want you and Kamikaze kid to compete for the rest of the season.

1) Crunching tackle of the week - 10 pts
2) Bump of the week - 10 points
3) Number of times on the bottom of the pack - 20 points

Winner chooses losers costume on mad monday!"

Innovative coaching?

And Judd was vilified for his tackle on Adams - is it any wonder Judd had a brain fade after 200 games of getting scragged and cheated out of even having a legitimate run at a contested ball situation without having at least one arm held.

It has got to ludicrous situations - (I think it was in that West Coast Final) where Judd took possession of the ball with one arm and was pinged for holding the ball because he couldn't handball it away. Why couldn't he handball it away??? - because his other arm was being held before he even managed to take possession with the other arm.

Problem with Gibbs in coaching, match committee and list management.

If he is to be a mid sized run with player. Play his Jordan Russell in that role.

Gibbs needs to be selected to play across half forward with the occasional run through the middle.

Should model his game on Steve J or Wayne Johnston. Just needs to be hard at the ball and in attacking positions on the field.

The run with roles are for those with less skills.

Gibbs was recruited as a Forward / Mid. Still remember his stats as a 16yo in the SANFL with 20-25possessions + 6 carlton draughts.

He needs to be played on the wing / HFF permanently. I think Yarran coming out of the backline and hitting Gibbs on the wing would be a pretty nice play. With Gibbs kicking ability he should be able to hit some nice targets too and take some marks in the forward 50m.

The "Quaterback" role if used needs to be a taller mobile player. Need to play third man up, zone off and set up play.

IMO Laidler will be our best bet. Dont right off McInnes or OKeefe for that role in the future.

This.
Laidler can cut off play,
Yazza can send it back the other way.
Gibbs can move forward

Now we just need to get our strength & conditioning right, & fix Laids' knee.

Gibbs can be a good kick for goal but not always. But around the ground he still turns the ball over too often with his kicking, and not just when forced.

Not sure if anyone else noticed last night but in the third quarter i think it was , the suns kicked a goal from a tight angle with Gibbs in front of the kicker and he didnt even bother to raise his arms or apply any real pressure to the kicker. Sums up where he is at. The television coverage at 3/4 time showed Ratten giving him a real bake, i assume for that feeble effort. Perhaps someone could put up the footage. Very poor from Gibbs.

Probably the biggest concern for me was Gibbs tapping the ball toward the boundary and going to ground.
The Suns player casually picked up the ball and kicked a goal. Feeble effort at best.
Judd would have backed himself in to win the ball. Gibbs conceded and poorly at that.

Really expected this bloke to take the game by the scruff of the neck but unfortunately for Gibbs he is soft and will never step up until he toughens up a lot

Thats another thing that annoys me about some of our players, go to ground far too easily and take themselves out of the contest. Its a cheats way of taking an easy option.

Saw that, wasnt a good look by Gibbs, there were other shit efforts by players last night that were just as bad

my wife asked me to leave the house after that passage of play.

i think it was ablett who was on gibbs' hammer and instead of keeping his head over the ball and at the very least, taking the tackle and getting the ball out of play, he folded like a deck of cards and went to ground so that ablett dished off a handball and suns player snapped a goal.

most disappointing effort of the night and thats saying something.

Sorry people, waiting for Gibbs to suddenly become a hard man of football is futile.

He's been babied, pampered and wrapped in cotton since he arrived aged 17... way to late to reprogram him now.

Time to make some hard choices for Gibbs and others... I wouldn't say no to a decent trade

The resulting goal was a low around the corner kick that could have been smothered with an ounce of effort and pressure. But no, dont bother, our season and the coaches future was only at stake, but shit your hair looks good !

I actually asked an injured Carlton player, where he thought Gibbs best position was - his answer was Half Back Flank, because of his foot skills. When i added i'd like to see him in the middle, he added that he doesn't think that would work because you have to be able to win your own ball and because Bryce doesn't really do that, he becomes a liability at the stoppages.

So his team mates also realise Bryce doesn't want to go in hard.........

For Bryce's sake, i hope the new coach can sort him out really fast or a potential star career may end up being a very average one.

..that's the issue isn't it, not winning his own ball.. ..is that him, or the fact we coach him that way.. ..we used him as the loose player, put him behind the ball/stoppages.. ..have him negate a player, have him sag off contests etc etc etc..

..not the player we recruited, i know some players put out that was years agoi, but they gotta realise how we've been using him incorrectly for years and now the player we have currently is the way we created, not the one we recruited.. ..poor coaching of him for years and now we reap what we've sown..

During the U18 Championships he was ranked equal No.1 of all division one players in contested possessions.

Throughout his junior career his contested possession percentage ranged between 43-47%.

Since being at AFL level up to and including last year this has ranged between 30-33%.

This year his percentage of possessions that are contested has fallen to 26.15%...
