The last couple of games has highlighted just how small our players are and have been for a while now. Only when we play out of our skin do we look good.....we all know you can't do that all season...more or less than for a hand full of games at best.

I'm not sure that Ratts can survive the season at this rate....

We are totally undisciplined.
We choose the wrong options because we are not drilled.

Were a one trick pont.
Gibbs to tag along with half a dozen others. Taggers are following opponsents theyre not winning footy.
Betts is the shortest ever CHF
squeeze the ball out of the bubble and beat everybody in a foot race.

Wont stand up.

I reckon Gibbs is a gun!!!

A new coach would breathe life into him.

Ratts has done his dash just as we have outside gameplan dashing.

Nothing about what we do is balanced.

He's Victorian bound, Adelaide will get a hard on at the very mention of Gibbs.

We may get lucky, and Adelaide give us their second rounder for our third......

Why the !@#$%& would they even contemplate that swap?

Why wouldn't they?.....when is the last time Gibbs influenced a game?....a huge disappointment.

Hendo should have started forward with no T Walker today not after the horse has bolted....same as last week when waite was having a shocker. the coaching staff seem to be set in their ways and there is no flexibility in our game plan.another strange move , was Yarran as a sub!!

I would rather play boots n all(bootsma) , than russell.

This is unbelievable. I have been following the team from Mexico off and on for 8 years and on TC for about 4-5 of them and I have NEVER seen so little comment after a game. people are just bewildered into submission.

Yep, I think it's a case of, not so much disbelief, but not really knowing what to say that hasn't been said.

Good on Adelaide! They were a rabble last year and have really turned things around. Craig was a disgrace.

Too good. Too strong. Too fast and too skillful. Brilliant effort and completely outclassed us.

There's a lesson in there, no doubt.

This was going to be our year. I was so positive. I am now just as positive we can't win it with this group. Or this game plan. The ugly truth is that Essendon* has passed us in the off season. Abu Dabi or wherever they went was a waste of time and money. Essendon* spent their off season in the gym. Richmond has been our bitch for several years but after what I saw last night against Essendon*, they are going to out body us in the return match. They will have passed us by next season. Collingwood was probably unlucky to get us on a good day with a full list. They have picked up some handy second tier players who are settling in nicely. St Kilda has an ageing list but have picked up some handy small forwards. Adelaide has a new coach and a new attitude but with the same list has jumped about ten teams in one go. WCE has been steadily good. The rest probably are below us, although Geelong did put up a good fight against Collingwood. They are shot for this season amd are old.
So?
If we can't do it this year, we will struggle for years. The reality is here. Adelaide gave us a footy lesson tonight. I am struggling to think of more than a handful of players who really had a crack and as others have pointed out in the match thread, we lack a system. It was pathetic to watch one of the Tippet goals at the end where they just chipped it from full back across and back until he had it in his hands. They must have had 10 uncontested possessions in that play alone. No manning up and our zone was obviously not up to it.
Murphy is a huge loss although even he was apparently quiet before he went off. If he is out for more than a couple of weeks, we are stuffed for the year.
Seven days ago, I posted, "in case we need incentive, a win tonight will see us top of the ladder." Tonight we are in the scrum with about six clubs, all looking to finish in the bottom of the eight. The players just didn't want it and tonight they showed it again.
NO PASSENGERS!
Cull a few of them and give some kids a run. Lucas, Bootsma, Buckley, Dale against Melbourne. We should still win but some of our bigger names have to go.
Russell, Touhy (although he at least has a go), Gibbs, Betts, Garlett, Kreuzer could do with a wake up call. Or maybe worse.
They are far too comfortable. It's harder to get dropped from this team than it is from the Australian Cricket team.

I agree BS. Still also think there needs to be some changes in the coaching structure because what we have now is not working and hasn't worked since the Essendon* game. Having second thoughts about going to the Hawks game on the 29th too! A trip to the dentist might be less painful.

Just back from a day out and so disappointed but not surprised. We have serious issues that must be addressed on and off the field. The response so far to the on going challenge has been so poor. Will or skill? Probably both.

That's going to be the Adelaide theme in the press tomorrow.

Sinners problem is Sticks won't knife his pal
Boys Club
If they had balls they'd sign Roos now and tap Ratts on shoulder
The Judd wIndow is closing we can't afford to dick around
Get Roos and throw the sink at Dangerfield
Though the lad be mad to leave Crows now
Look the positive if there is one is we are learnIng about the list
Curnow just a battler
JR cooked
Gibbs soft
Waite never be a star
TBird just ordinary, weak today says it all

Play Levi in Ones when he's fit
He's our best chance for a KPP fwd

Play Bucks
Kid has talent

So Sanderson has transformed Adelaide that quickly.....shame we didn't grab him when he was available.....even when they were 8 goals ahead; they kept attackling and monstering us.

I was jealous of their playing style and embarrassed of ours.....we were pathetic and shameful.

Our 3rd string ex ruckman Sauce Jacobs killed us in the ruck; and their midfield murdered ours.

When is Bryce Gibbs going to produce something?......today was his big chance to take over Murph's possie.....or Carrot's possie.....and.....?.....Robbo stepped up at least and Scotto always tries; as does Armfield; and then......?.....JR kicks to Adelaide very precisely....why does he do that?......

Bryce Gibbs has been overrated all his football life at Carlton. I said it back in 2010. He's had about a dozen good games where he's tagged someone, but has never taken the game by the scruff of the next.
But don't worry Brycey Wicey , my nasty words will be rebuked by others on this site who are always there to massage your ego!!!

We got obsessed by Warnock. We flowered up big time. Injury riddled and very one dimensional. Forced Jacobs' hand last year.

Our players must hide between the arcs. We either kick it into our f50 and there's no one there or we turn it over and the opp counter attack into our d50....and guess what, no one is there! Then, the icing on the cake is that at stoppages, a revolutionary tactic has come into play - its called tagging. Tag us at the stoppages and giuess what happens - there's no one there

Recruiting has been an unmitigated disaster in the last 5 years. Forget rookies who've made it, there is no pressure there. If they're no good, no one complains. Anybody who can sell me a bright future with the current list should be selling catholocism to the mexicans
Average players AT BEST: Bower, McLean, Russell, Grigg, Hampson, Armfield, Warnock (none of these were rookie listed)
Watson is tracking south but maybe there's still time?????

I was very, very worried after watching us against GWS. I felt The Saints were a real chance, and I consider Saints are at best a good ordinary side.

Seeing how the St Kilda game went I expected the Cows to roll us, just not this easily.

Right now Carlton remind me of Adelaide last year, lacking confidence, dispirited, looking lost and confused, giving every indication that the coach has lost them. I don't think the "heavy training load" theory is viable any longer (if it ever was). If players seem unwilling or unable to run. That is run to create space, run to get numbers to a contest, run to cover a loose opponent, what conclusion can you come to? Obviously the players have the leg speed, we are after all one of the fastest teams in the competition.

I dearly loved Ratts as a player, but he was green as grass as a coach when he took on the job. I always felt he needed to prove he had what it takes as an assistant and/or coaching at a lower standard before, if ever, getting the senior position at Carlton. I'm right against changing coaches mid season, but Ratt's position as coach for next season is now dependant on the remainder of this year.

Speaking of playing to your strengths, does anybody remember our short backline of 2011?
Last year we played one KPD -- Jamo, then Henderson when he went down -- surrounded by smalls who would run and create. Laidler was crucial to this in his small CHB role, and it makes him our biggest out imo, but maybe it's still worth resurrecting?
Right now we're too lumbering down back with Duigan, Bower, Hendo, Jamison and Russell (an absolute disgrace, never again in my navy blue). There's no dash. We looked much better when Henderson went forward. Well, at least for a patch there.

You're joking aren't you. Danger is as good as anyone in the comp right now. I think the Crows would be more than happy to leave Gibbs alone.

Collingwood allowed us to play an open outside game with space and spread and we murdered them.

Since then we have been cramped and squeezed and outnumbered and hit out of the contest, and worse, scored easily against on the rebound.

We've been pummelled for 4 weeks with the same opposition tactics. We are certain to get more of the same for the rest of the year. The losses have not been about lack of effort or skill but tactics, strategy and structures. And maybe a list that has a few more holes than we thought. Not good enough Ratts.

Particularly galling today was watching Sam Jacobs give Shaun Hampson an absolute bath. Hampson had plenty of mates in woefulness today, but for a bloke who gets his hands on the centre square ball ups so often he has no idea how to hit to position, take a mark, keep his feet, make the right decision, or tackle. Time to recall Warnock as soon as possible.

I think we might be flowered.
