Ratts will single him out when he accepts #17.

yeah i can just imagine a cunning fox like Ratten.. strategist extraordinare winning flag 17.
Amazing coach!!!

if he wins it he is allowed to spit into my eyeball ...... if he doesnt.. well.........fat lot of good he was... with 3 number 1 picks and the best player in the comp.

waste!!!

Bomba Thompson won a couple so its possible for a dud to win flags i suppose... but then.. Ratts doesnt have 12 AA in his squad...

Not at this point in time, but who knows...

Even though we have a vast array of half back flankers ... over the top and no argument from me on that point ... one has to believe our midfielders are still doing pretty well.

Carlton 2011 ... Number 1 in clearances and second only to Collingwood in contested possessions.

Most of best 22 will play and will play anywhere between half and a full game.

I hope we see a fair bit of Watson, Casboult, Collins, Davies, Rowe, Ellard, Bootsma and they show they want a spot in round 1.

Watson may well play this year, but not round 1 and I honestly think he's still 18moths away and may come back as a forward.

They had a great opportunity last week but from all accounts did not make the most of that chance.

Sounds to me like we need to stop screwing around with 'minutes into legs' blah blah and play the best 22 fit players available and have a crack.

The selection policy seems to have dictated that we haven't really attacked any of the games so far, which i suppose is fair enough if we weren't interested in treating the comp with even marginal seriousness.

Surely, however, we need to be fairdinkum with the last game before the real stuff starts and actually give the best 22 players an opportunity to work together testing all the wonderful new tricks Williams and the other coaches have introduced over summer against live opposition.

A radical thought, I know.

Keep who honest?

If its the players you are referring to you would have to be delusional. Do you think that by posting on a web forum you would be influencing anything that happens on game day

If its other posters on here good luck

Yeah probably wrong words TBH.
Perhaps I should say he keeps the arguments balanced. He provides an alterne view, and if he leads with his jaw he deserves to cop some flak.
I have rose coloured glasses most times, but I like to hear and read alternative views which may have some substance.

As for the players reading TC....you betcha. I know some do.
I also know that some of the stuff the players read about themselves do hurt.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ratts came across a few good ideas he's put in place which he heard from fans, and fans on forums like TC. Just a hunch. It is wrong to say it's delusional. Anything can happen. The idea of Ratts being influenced by others (wherever thewy are) is possible.

I like reading Synbads comments. I don't agree with him all the time, and had a stoush with him about Stevens and Co back in 2006.
He's good value, and you don't have to agree with him.

I think the window for the 17th is here now, and Ratts has all he needs to win it.
I expect players to show more intensity. I expect top 4, and will not tolerate a loss against the Tigers or Bumbers.

This game's worth nothing. Practise a bit of positional work then put the cue in the rack for Rnd 1.

Not until mid to late season will we know whether out approach to this pre-season was a successful one.

Can't throw the science of minutes into legs out the window just because we lose games we are hardly trying to win. We need to have faith in the approach we have taken, wear the punches that come with it and strive to prove its effectiveness.

In saying that I hope we string it together this week so we can take a bit of heat off us going into round one.

Win lose or draw its going to be an enjoyable and entertaining season.

we want to be top 4 right ?

that means about 15 or 16 wins ?

we can't afford to go into the new season cold - we need to hit the ground running - we need to be a warmed up smoothe running machine from the get go

we're supposed to have some depth now - no time to pussy foot around - now is the time !

Like some others have been disappointed in the results, but not the end of the world.
I think Ratts has taken a different view of this preseason than previous years.
You cannot field so many inexperienced and under done players in the last game and expect a to win. Especially when you have nothing to play for.
Like he said disappointing the 2 and 3 tierd players didn't stand up though.
This week I expect will be different fuller strenght team with more intensity.
Cutting it abit short to get the mix right but they have been working all summer for RD 1.
And beyond.

IF casboult plays this week and doesn't perform horribly, then I'm gonna call it - imo he will play round 1

carlton is doing what most of us have wanted them to do for years ie.

not take this joke of a pre season too serious win or lose it means zilch

just get enough match practice for our top liners and dont take too many risks with them

play the kids

the finals are 6 months away thats an eternity in football

if richmond or whoever want to be nab cup heroes let them we know what that can lead to.

no need for the panic button yet

what we need to do is string a long run of wins together - to do that these games - even this one - mean absolutely nothing.

I think he deserves a chance early in the season. Not sure he'll get in ahead of Hammer, Kreuzer and Waite though?

Well whilst I've seen the nab cup as a bit Ho hum, I still feel something is missing. Have we seen grit, determination and a consistent hardness at the contest? I would say no. Have we seen some untried talent get.a taste? Yes but only in spurts. I would suggest most supporters would.have expected more from the pre season than what has been shown. I hope the boys come.out and smash north. Surely this team needs some kind of momentum leading into round one?
