Pfft, staying with Silver, sit in what I think is the best seat in the house (lvl 3 behind goals, GP).

Keep in mind, I think some may read those as the general membership price increases. I think they are just the increases from the current Gold price to Captains Club for each.

Yeah that looks to be the case. We're obviously in for a decent increase across the board though.

I'm an AFL club support member, and a Carlton Gold with seats on level 2. All my family are in the same boat. To be honest, I've been waiting for a while for this to happen; it was only a matter of time. If you are going to create a premium category with guaranteed GF seats (if Carlton is in it), they have to go somewhere, and level 2 where the current Gold seats are is the best Carlton has available at those grounds (5000 Medallion club seats don't help...thank the AFL for that one).

We're all discussing whether to ditch the AFL membership, as for the first time in the last 2 years, we missed out on GF tickets. Not sure what we will do.

Thanks for the info Bluebernz.

Why wasn't this info included in the puff piece letter I received last week?

For a Family 11 game membership the increase is around 30% to sit in the same seats as I did this year!
Mind you the seats at Ethidad on Level two behind the point post are crap.

Don't we have a new membership manager? If so, if this is his/hers first initiative then they're off to a poor start in my opinion.
To me, this smells like some smart arse attempt to upsell membership packages.

I assume full member. How did you miss out? As a full member don't you get second rights? (Club supporting members first)?

I'm a full AFL Member and have been pretty lucky with GF tickets, thing to remember is that if/when we make it we are guaranteed a seat. No stress. :smoking:

Yes, full member. As I understand it, competing clubs get an allocation of 60% of tickets. The remaining 40% go on sale to non-competing members the next day. Given there are 55,000 members and only 22,000 seats, many non-competing members will miss out. We have always got, until the replay last year, and this year. Tickets to non-competing members sold out in about 10-15 minutes. It may have been because Collingwood supporters got mates AFL memberships, thus increasing demand for non-competing tickets?

Kingkerna...not sure if that is right. What if Carlton plays Collingwood in the GF next year? Does 60% of 22,000 (13,200) cover all Carlton and Collingwood AFL members? Not sure that it would.

I always thought the non competing clubs got the balance of what was left after competing clubs had their go.

Am I alone in not wanting to go to a grand final unless Carlton is in it?

There's been a lot of misunderstanding/misinformation spread by our supporters with regards to these membership changes.

I'm not so sure this is accurate. The Grand Final allocation goes like this:

Full Members - Competing Clubs
Full Members - Non Competing Clubs
---- then if any are left
Silver Members - Competing Clubs
Silver Members - When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east

http://www.aflmembership.com.au/faq/#As%20an%20AFL%20Silver%20Member,%20can%20I%20access%20tickets%20to%20the%202011%20Toyota%20AFL%20Grand%20Final?
