Where would a stand alone Carlton reserves side play?

If there was an AFL reserves comp they could play before the main game.

Some interesting points. If Waite, Walker and Carrazo weren't fit, then they should have missed.

Coach lost game with field placement.

Henderson, should have been forward.

Russell should have been Back flank or Wing.

Joseph should have been sub.

Watch for Curnow, Carrazo and Irish to come back in.

Also what the hell does Warnock need to do to get fired up and play consistent football.

Maybe try 1 year contracts. He needs to show more aggression.

If there is one affiliation that works, its the Carlton and the Ants.Plenty of players have come through.Reckon the Ants hierachy have bent over backwards to make the combine work............my major concern is the Cramer st oval.I believe the games should be at PP.From what i hear the Ants players would much prefer to play at PP.

Would be great but the AFL would never allow the grounds to be chopped up before the main game (not a good look for TV)

Secondly, the greedy bastards would probably want extra $$ to watch 2 games

club confirmed Carrazzo will miss another week with a calf
id bring in curnow and 'The Irish' (plural), and I reckon the MC will prob consider Austin again (for Bower), they'll consider Watson (coz he had a ripper in the 2's but he's still miles away IMO) and FWIW I reckon Casboults a big chance of coming in (miles away from AFL aswell imo) also wouldnt surprise me if Scotland misses (pretty sure he hurt is shoulder on the weekend) and while this aint quite a loss I'd say Bower will miss through injury, again (oh reeeeeeeeallly) as he was limping around for most of the 2nd half aswell. i swear it if Bower was a horse he woulda been shot years ago. wait a sec, wasn't there a racehorse called 'Bower' once? anyone?
actually thought AJ wasn't that bad

I hope as part of the club's yearly review that they take a good look at the fitness and conditioning staff and practices also. I can't see how we can win a flag if we have to keep continuing covering cracks like we have the past few years.

I agree that (venue and conditions) seems to be the major issue. I think game style is actually very similar.

The racehorse was Bauer from memory, runner-up in the Melbourne Cup a couple of years ago

No that is wrong even if were operating an unafilliated VFL club we could still only operate with our Main AFL list (40 or 42 whatever it is) with our "X" number of rookie list players. We wouldnt have access to the rest of our VFL listed players just because we lost AFL players with injuries etc.

So how do Collingwood & Geelong field a squad of 22 in the VFL each week?

May I introduce to you Geelong's 2011 VFL list

Like I said those players are not AFL listed Geelong Players.

So may I introduce you to

..agro and jimmae, i thinmk yer arguing slightly different issues.. ..yes agro, having our own ressies team would not enable us to cherry pick extra players to fulfill depth issues.. ..and yes jimmae we can have top up players to fill out our ressie team list.. ..i think you two might be misunderstanding eachother slightly..

..or i'm not following yer mini debate well at all..

..looking at the big picture, while currently at this very moment there may not be a conflict of interest having a vfl affliate ressies team, but in the past and am sure in the future such conflicts of interest will arise.. ..and even setting such complications aside.. ..playing at PP in the navy blue would have to add some benefit i am sure of it..

..plus ppl will go and support the ressie blues, especially when playing home at PP on a diff day to the seniors game and/or the seniors is interstate..

Did anyone actually think we could play VFL players that weren't on our list?

Err what? You asked why are we talking about Meese, I said we'd be talking about him regardless if we were an unaffiliated VFL team (due to ruck injuries), then you told me they can only play AFL listed players.

Now you're agreeing with me? Maybe you should get a bigger picture of a shovel to hide behind. :?

We didn't cherry pick Meese from Preston; he's signed onto the Bullants playing list.

No the shovel wasnt for anyone to hide behind - it was for the "thunk/clang" sound it makes when it hits you on the back of the head.

I just re-read your earlier post. We were never talking about bringing up Meese as a candidate for senior footy, just his G&D compared to Warnock's. Lo and behold, I have enough respect for you to skim read that thinking you wouldn't ask such a question, and here we are.
